HELLO,

Your symptoms suggest chronic constipation, which can lead or to be associated with

1) DIETRY ISSUES -low fibre intake - insufficient water consumption

2) LIFESTYLE FACTORS -sedentry habits - ignoring the urge to pass stool - stress and anxiety

Ayurvedic views constipation as a vata imbalance, particularly apana vata, which governs elimination. Hard stools and dryness point to excessive dryness in the colon.

Likely involved - vata prakopa(aggravation of vata) - dry, cold, rough qualities dominating

TREATMENT GOALS 1) soften and regulate stools 2) heal and reduce pain 3) Balance vata dosha 4) improves digestive strength 5) prevent recurrence

START INTERNALLY WITH -these target vata imbalance, dry stools and poor bowel movement

MILD DAILY LAXATIVES

1) TRIPHALA CHURNA= 1 tsp with warm water at bedtime =softens stool, promotes complete evacuation, rejuvinates colon

2) HARITAKI CHURNA= 3gm at bedtime with warm water =vata pacifying, gentle laxative, relieves gas and bloating

3) ABHAYARISHTA= 30 ml with equal water twice daily after meals =best for chronic constipation, piles , anal fissure and gas

4) AVIPATIKAR CHURNA(if acidity)= 5gm with water before meals = reduces pitta, heylpsbowel movement

STRONGER LAXATIVES( IF SEVERE CONSTIPATION)

1) GANDHARVAHASTADI KASHAYA= 15ml with warm water twice daily before meals =clears vata from the colon, use for dry constipation

2) ERANDA TAILA= 5-10 ml with warm milk at bedtime once weekly =strong purgatives, lubricates colon, heals fissure

DIET RECOMMENDATIONS the goal is to moisten the intestines, balance vata, and ensure soft, regular stools

FRUITS= ripe banana, papaya, figs(soaked), prunes, soaked raisins, stewed apples- natural laxatives, fibre rich

VEGETABLES= bottle gourd, pumpkin, spinach, carrots, beetroot(cooked)- easy to digest, promotes bowel movement

GRAINS= rice, oats, wheat, barley- light, nourishing grains

FATS= cows ghee(1-2 tsp/day), sesame oil- lubricates intestines, pacifies vata

LIQUID= warm water, soups, thin moong dal, herbal teas- keeps digestion smooth, hydrates colon

SPICES= hing, ajwain, cumin, fennel, ginger- improves digestion, reduces gas and bloating.

FOOD TO AVOID

DRY FOODS= crackers, chips, popcorn

COLD OR RAW FOOD= salads, refrigerated drinks

HEAVY AND CONSTIPATING= cheese, red meat, fried foods, too much panner

REFINED AND PROCESSED= maida, white bread, pastries

SPICY OR ACIDIC= chillies, pickles, citrus in exces

-Avoid sitting long on the toilet -never suppress the urge to defecate - avoid long sitting hours-take short walks or breaks -manage stress- if directly impacts your bowel via the gut-brain axis

YOGA FOR YOUR CASE -practice daily, on an empty stomach ,preferably in the morning

pawanmuktasana- stimulates intestines, releievs gas Vajrasana= aids digestion if done after meals Malasana= opens pelvis, supports bowel movement Bhujangasana= strengthens abdominal organs Dhanurasana= massages abdominal organs

PRANAYAM -anulom vilom bhramari. sheetali

DAILY HABITS -Warm water+ghee in the morning -soaoked figs or raisins before breakfast -yoga and breathing in morning

DO FOLLOW

HOPE THIS MIGHT BE HELPFUL

THANK YOU

DR. MAITRI ACHARYA

Hello I completely understand your concern. Many people experience reduced bowel frequency without realizing it may indicate mild Vibandha (constipation) or a sluggish colon function. But dont worry we are here to help you out😊

✅AYURVEDIC PLAN OF TREATMENT

✅INTERNAL MEDICATION

1 Triphala Churna – 1 teaspoon (around 3–5g) with warm milk at bedtime. Acts as a mild laxative and Rasayana, supports liver and colon function.

2 Avipattikar Churna – ½ tsp before lunch and dinner (if acidity or burning sensation accompanies constipation.)

3 Gandharvahastadi Kashayam – 15 ml with equal warm water twice daily before meals (helps in Vata-induced constipation and flatulence).

✅ LIFESTYLE AND DINACHRYA

To support natural peristalsis:

Wake up early (before sunrise) and drink 1–2 glasses of warm water with a few drops of lemon or a pinch of rock salt.

Massage the abdomen gently clockwise using warm sesame oil daily before bath.

Practice yoga asanas that stimulate Apana Vata — Pawanmuktasana, Malasana, Vajrasana, and Ardha Matsyendrasana (do under guidance).

Sleep adequately — lack of sleep aggravates Vata and slows bowel movement.

✅DIET MODIFICATION

Include warm, cooked, slightly oily foods — like moong dal khichdi, vegetable soups, ghee, and warm milk.

Add fiber in balance — oats, vegetables, papaya, soaked raisins, figs, or flax seeds (1 tsp daily).

Avoid dry, cold, or processed foods, excess tea, coffee, or refined flour.

Drink water at regular intervals; warm water helps Vata balance better than cold water.

✅ Ideal Bowel Rhythm

Ideally, one should have one soft, effortless bowel movement daily, preferably early morning.

Passing stool every 2 days is common for some, but if you feel light, clear, and not bloated, it’s not harmful.

However, Ayurveda aims for daily elimination to maintain Agni (digestive fire) and prevent toxin buildup.

Wsihing you a good health😊

Warm regards Dr Snehal Vidhate

It can ne normal for your body type. If don’t feel bloated, constipated, heaviness in abdomen, no smelly farts, then it’s okay of you pass stool 2nd day. If you experience any of the symptoms then start with this- 1. Abhayarishtam 15ml-0-15ml with 15ml water before food 2. Hingwashtak powder 1tsp-0-1tsp after food 3. Cap Vasulax 2tab at night with warm water

Have fibre rich diet and have fruits in your meal Avoid excess sugary spicy oily fried foods. Avoid packaged food. Exercise daily for 15-20 minutes. Vajrasana for 5-8 minutes after dinner.

In Ayurveda, regular elimination is vital to maintain balance in the body. Ideally, a bowel movement every day indicates healthy agni (digestive fire) and proper dosha balance. If you’re having a movement every 2 days, it might be satisfactory for your constitution, but daily elimination is generally encouraged as it helps clear toxins from the body – aiding overall wellness.

You might want to explore a few changes. Try starting the day with a glass of warm water, it gently stimulates the digestive system, potentially aiding regularity. Including warm, cooked meals over raw, especially with spices like cumin, black pepper, or ginger can stimulate digestion and promote regularity. A teaspoon of ghee in warm milk before bedtime can also lubricate the intestines, making it easier to go.

Attention to your dosha is also significant. If you have a predominately Vata constitution, you might need to focus on warmer foods and calming activities. If there’s a Kapha influence, light and spicy foods might be helpful. Pitta individuals should aim to maintain a balance with cool, non-spicy options.

Exercise is another aspect to consider. Regular moderate activity, like yoga or walking for about 30 minutes daily, can support digestion by stimulating the intestines.

Ayurvedic treatments such as herbal remedies can support bowel regularity too. Consider Triphala, which is known for its ability to detoxify and support regular bowel function. Start with a small dose, about a half teaspoon of Triphala powder with warm water at night.

Remember, every individual is unique, so carefully observe how your body responds to these adjustments. If you experience discomfort, consider consulting with an Ayurvedic physician who can offer more personalized guidance based on your prakriti.

Passing tools once every two days can sometimes be normal. If you feel fully relieved, I have no bloating, gas or Anu and your stools are soft and easy to pass, but ideally Ayurveda consider a daily movement essential for proper detoxification and energy balance. You can gently encourage more regular motion by taking Haritaki churna 1 teaspoon with water at bedtime And if you tend to be dry or constipated, then add 1 teaspoon of ghee in warm milk, cut night Drink 2 to 3 L of warm water throughout the day Eat soaked raisins figs each morning Avoid long gaps between the meals Can drink castor oil 1 teaspoon in warm milk or water, weekly ones Over time, your bubbles will become more response, you and you will start passing stool daily without hanging on harsh laxatives
