why does hair fall occurs - #38464
I am really worried about my hair fall lately, and I don’t know what to do. It started about three months ago when I changed jobs and my life became super stressful, which might be a reason? I’m always reading those articles online, and they say that stress can impact hair health, but I feel like I do everything right! I eat pretty healthy, try to get enough sleep, and take my vitamins – the ones they say are good for hair growth! But still, I notice more strands every time I brush my hair. My sister suggested I should look into ayurvedic remedies, and that got me thinking... why does hair fall occurs in the first place? Is it really just the stress or maybe the change in my diet with all that takeout I had when I was busy? Plus, I’ve been using some new hair products. Could those be the problem too? I’m honestly confused because I tried a few natural remedies like amla oil and herbal shampoos, but doesn't seem to help much. I’ve also read somewhere about balancing doshas – could that be a factor? Ugh, I just want to know why does hair fall occurs and what I can do to stop it or at least slow it down! Any advice would be great!

Hair fall can definitely be frustrating and often has multiple causes. In Ayurveda, hair health strongly reflects your inner balance and can be influenced by several factors including lifestyle changes, stress, diet, and even the external products you use. Since you mentioned a job change and increased stress, it’s possible that stress is a key factor. Stress can lead to an imbalance in the doshas, especially Vata, which governs movement and bodily functions, including hair growth.
Hair fall often indicates an imbalance in Pitta as well, which is linked to metabolism and digestive processes. If your recent diet change involved more takeout food, it might be disturbing your Agni or digestive fire, causing an accumulation of digestive toxins (Ama), which can impact your hair health. Ayurveda suggests focusing on improving Agni with a balanced diet rich in fresh, warm foods while avoiding overly oily, spicy, or processed foods. Incorporate foods that soothe Pitta like almonds, leafy greens, and seasonal fruits.
As for the new hair products, harsh chemicals can weaken hair strands and irritate the scalp. Sticking to natural, gentle products like herbal shampoos infused with bhringraj or shikakai could help. Since you are already using amla oil, continue with regular scalp massages as they improve circulation, relax the nervous system, and assist with the balance of Vata dosha.
Balancing your doshas involves tailored practice; for instance, stress management through daily meditation or yoga could be beneficial. As for diet, consider enhancing your intake of pure ghee, sesame seeds, and black lentils, known for nourishing bones and hair.
Try incorporating a routine that establishes calm and routine sleep patterns. Aim to sleep by 10 PM and wake up by 6 AM to stabilize your body’s natural rhythm, which can support hair health integration into a more holistic lifestyle. If the hair fall continues despite these interventions, consulting with an experienced Ayurvedic practitioner for personalized guidance based on your prakriti (constitution) may be worthwhile, to delve deeper into specific imbalances in your body.
