how to increase the hair volume - #39806

Audrey

I am really struggling with my hair lately. It’s so flat and lifeless, and I just can’t figure out how to increase the hair volume. Last month, I went to a salon and asked for some layers, thinking that might help, but honestly, it just made my hair look even more thin! My friends keep saying I should try some products, but I’m not sure what’s really safe to use or what actually works. I’ve also been looking into natural remedies, like oils and stuff, but the whole process seems overwhelming. Does anyone know how to increase the hair volume in a way that's natural? I’ve tried coconut oil masks and even a bit of castor oil, but it feels like I’m just wasting my time. For reference, I have kinda fine hair and I’m always worried about using too many products that might weigh it down or make it greasy. The thing is, I don’t wanna keep spending money on salon treatments or products that don’t deliver. I heard from someone that certain Ayurvedic herbs can help? I mean, I’m all about trying natural stuff, but I need real advice on how to increase the hair volume so it can actually make a difference! Anyone got tips or personal experiences? Would love to hear any suggestions!

Looking into natural Ayurveda for increasing hair volume is a rewarding venture. For addressing the issue in a more holistic manner, a few adjustments can bring noticeable changes.

First, let’s talk about your diet because it’s foundational. According to Ayurveda, maintaining a balanced diet helps strengthen hair from within. Incorporate foods rich in proteins, like lentils and legumes, alongside almonds and walnuts, which are abundant in Omega-3 fatty acids that nourish hair follicles. Additionally, include sesame seeds and flax seeds; they’re great for keeping Pitta dosha in check, which when imbalanced, can lead to hair issues.

Now, for topical treatments, consider using Bhringraj oil. This herb is renowned in Ayurveda for its hair-rejuvenating properties. Warm the oil slightly and apply it once or twice a week, massaging gently onto your scalp. This boosts circulation, promoting healthier growth. Leave it on for a couple of hours, or overnight if you can, then wash with a gentle, natural shampoo.

Since you’ve mentioned castor oil, it’s indeed quite beneficial for hair thickening due to its ricinoleic acid content, boosting circulation to the scalp. You can mix it with lighter oils like coconut or argan oil to reduce thickness, making it easier to apply and rinse off.

For internal balance, consider adding Triphala - a potent blend of three fruits - to your routine. It’s a great detoxifier, aiding digestion and indirectly nurturing hair growth by ensuring proper nutrient absorption. Take it in the form of powder or capsules before bedtime, but make sure it suits your body constitution; consult with an Ayurvedic practitioner for accurate dosage.

Engage in regular scalp massages to improve blood circulation, stimulate hair follicles, and promote growth. Also, reduce stress through practices like yoga or meditation, both known to support overall hair health.

Avoid heat styling tools frequently; they can damage the hair shaft, and go for air-drying whenever possible. Since layering made your hair feel thinner, consider a cut suitable for fine hair. Finally, switching to a silk pillowcase reduces friction and preserves hair health over time. Implementing these gentle, yet effective Ayurvedic practices, you’re likely to notice an improvement in your hair volume, gradually achieving the fullness you desire.

Thanks so much for clarifying this! I had no idea mixing meds could be risky. I'll stick to my doctor's meds and look into Ayurveda separately.
