how to make papaya leaf juice - #40208

Brooklyn

I am really confused about this whole papaya leaf juice thing. My friend was raving about it, saying it helped her with so many things like improving her platelets after a dengue fever bout. Lately, I’ve been feeling really run down and keep hearing that papaya leaf juice can be good for boosting immunity. I got a few leaves from my garden but totally blanking on how to make papaya leaf juice. Like, do I just throw them in a blender or what? I tried boiling them for a bit and I honestly don't think it looked right. My cousin said I should crush them raw and then strain the liquid, but that seemed off too. I feel like I’m just not doing it right! How to make papaya leaf juice without making it bitter 'cause I heard the taste can be super strong. Do I need to add sugar or something? I already don’t have the best taste buds, lol! Also, if anyone has tips on prepping the leaves—do I need to wash them in some special way? Any advice on how to make papaya leaf juice without it being gross would be super helpful! Trying to get this figured out ASAP! 🥴👩‍🌾

Making papaya leaf juice at home is quite simple and can surely pack a punch in terms of health benefits. It’s known for aiding with platelet count, particularly following dengue, and boosting general immunity, so you’re on the right track. Here’s a step-by-step approach, which might help overcome some of the hurdles you’ve mentioned:

Start by selecting young, tender papaya leaves. Older leaves can be too tough and bitter, making the juice even stronger. Wash them thoroughly under running water to remove any dirt or impurities. If you like, soaking them in salt water for a few minutes can also help ensure they’re clean.

After washing, pat the leaves dry with a clean towel. You’ll want about 5 to 6 medium-sized freshly picked leaves. Tear the leaves into smaller pieces to make blending easier and to reduce bitterness.

Put these leaves into a blender with about half a cup of water. Adding some water is essential! Blend them until they’re as smooth as possible. If you find blending tricky, adding more water might be necessary, but too much can dilute the juice’s strength.

Pour the blended mixture through a fine mesh strainer or use a clean cheesecloth to squeeze out the juice—this’ll help separate liquid from fibrous pulp. Be patient and squeeze it well to extract the maximum juice.

You mentioned bitterness; yes, papaya leaf juice naturaly tastes quite strong. Adding a teaspoon of honey can help mellow the flavor. Try to avoide too much sugar to keep it healthy. Adjust the sweetness according to your tolerance!

Drink small amounts, preferably on an empty stomach, in morning. Start with around 30ml and observe how your body reacts, then gradually increase if needed.

While papaya leaf juice can be beneficial, its effect varies from person to person, and it’s wise to consult with a qualified healthcare professional before making it a regular part of your routine especially if you have specific health concerns. Stay hydrated and well-rested to support your overall health better.

To prepare papaya leaf juice correctly and manage its bitterness, you’ll need a simple and precise approach. First, let’s handle washing—it’s crucial. Use fresh papaya leaves, about 4-5 medium-sized ones, and rinse them thoroughly in clean water to remove any impurities. Pay attention to removing any visible dirt or insects that you might notice. After washing, gently pat the leaves dry with a clean cloth or paper towel.

Next, remove the fibrous stem as it can contribute to a more bitter taste. Chop the leaves into smaller pieces to make them easier to blend. In a blender, add the chopped papaya leaves along with a small amount of water, just enough to help the blending process. Blend it until you achieve a fine, smooth consistency.

Now comes the extraction part—use a cheesecloth or a fine mesh strainer to strain the mixture, collecting the liquid in a bowl. This ensures that only the juice, without any fibrous particles, is retained.

To counter the bitterness, adding a few drops of honey or a bit of lemon juice can help improve the flavor. However, do so minimally to preserve the therapeutic qualities of the juice. Consuming papaya leaf juice in moderate quantities is advised—such as 2 tablespoons twice a day—particularly if you’re considering it for boosting platelet count or immunity.

Keep in mind that papaya leaf juice can be potent, and it’s wise to monitor any adverse effects. Consulting an Ayurvedic practitioner can ensure that it rightly aligns with your dosha balance and current health condition. If you’re feeling very run down, it’s essential to identify broader lifestyle or dietary adjustments that might be needed alongside this remedy.
