When addressing adenoids and tonsillitis through Ayurveda, it’s essential to consider both immediate relief for your son and long-term health improvements. Managing his nasal breathing, snoring, and overall respiratory health involves a few key steps. First, focus on diet. Offer warm foods that are easy to digest, like soups and broths, reducing kapha aggravating foods such as cold, oily, or very spicy items. Turmeric is beneficial; mix a pinch in warm milk for its anti-inflammatory properties.

Nasya therapy could also be helpful. Administering lukewarm anu taila or sesame oil in the nostrils daily, particularly in the mornings, can help clear nasal passages. Ensure it’s applied gently, with your son lying down with his head tilted slightly backward.

Herbs like tulsi (holy basil), yashtimadhu (licorice), and giloy may support respiratory health. Prepare a tea by boiling these herbs together; let him sip it warm twice daily. Additionally, employing steam inhalation with a few drops of eucalyptus oil can ease breathing and reduce congestion.

Proper sleep is crucial, so try elevating his head with an extra pillow during sleep. This can minimize snoring and promote easier breathing. Encourage regular outdoor play or activities to boost his lung capacity, but be mindful of pollution levels and ensure he isn’t exposed to cold, damp conditions.

Ensure he stays hydrated with warm water throughout the day, supporting overall hydration and keeping mucus thin. Monitor his condition, and if symptoms significantly worsen or persist, consulting with a healthcare provider is important. While Ayurveda offers supportive methods, staying attentive to his breathing difficulties is crucial — severe symptoms might need further medical evaluation.

Surgery doesn’t have to be the only route. Ayurvedic approaches offer alternatives that might alleviate his symptoms while potentially avoiding surgical intervention. For your son, we need to focus on reducing inflammation and supporting his respiratory system. Start by incorporating turmeric milk into his daily routine—half a teaspoon of turmeric powder mixed in warm milk before bedtime may help reduce inflammation due to its anti-inflammatory properties.

You might also want him to inhale steam. Add a few drops of eucalyptus oil to boiling water. Let him breathe in this steam for 10-15 minutes. This can help clear respiratory passages and soothe any swelling.

Diet plays a role too. Limit intake of cold foods and drinks as these can aggravate Kapha dosha, which may be contributing to the congestion in the nasal passages. Encourage warm soups and stews, seasoned with ginger and black pepper, to help balance Kapha.

Furthermore, consider a gentle nasya therapy at home. You can use a few warm drops of Anu tailam oil in each nostril once in the morning. This helps lubricate the nasal passages and can help reduce inflammation.

Ensure he’s well-hydrated and consider a daily gargle with warm salt water to mitigate throat discomfort. If symptoms persist or worsen, it’s essential to continue consulting with your healthcare provider. Always a ensure any home treatment is complementary and doesn’t replace needed medical advice.

Thanks so much for clarifying this! I had no idea mixing meds could be risky. I'll stick to my doctor's meds and look into Ayurveda separately.
