Addressing osteoarthritis and genu valgum involves a multifaceted approach focusing on lubrication, nourishment, and the structural integrity of joints. Incorporate a routine specifically designed for joint health. Begin with gentle, consistent exercises like joint rotations and swimming. These will enhance circulation without straining the knee. Prioritize flexibility by practicing yoga poses suited for knee support, such as Trikonasana (Triangle Pose) under professional supervision.
Modifications in your diet can aid too, targeting Vata dosha imbalances which often affect the joints. Include oleation by consuming warm, nourishing foods with good fats, like ghee and sesame oil. Opt for Ashwagandha and Shatavari, they are revered in Ayurveda for supporting strength and flexibility. Both should be taken as per a healthcare professional’s advice to prevent any contraindications with existing conditions or medications.
Herbs like Nirgundi may help in reducing inflammation and pain. A paste of Dashamoola mixed with water can be applied to the affected area, providing relief from stiffness and pain. Practice Abhyanga (oil massage) with Mahanarayan oil. Massage before a warm bath can improve lubrication of joints and ease discomfort. Aim to perform this regularly, as consistency is crucial.
Keep an eye on your digestive fire, Agni, by ensuring regular bowel movements and avoiding heavy, processed foods. Ayurveda stresses the health of the digestive system as a foundation for overall well-being. Daily intake of Triphala can help maintain digestive health and detoxification.
Elevate joint support with a knee brace or support wrap, especially during activities to prevent excessive strain. It’s essential to consult with a healthcare provider to tailor these recommendations, considering your unique needs and ensuring no interference with conventional management of osteoarthritis and genu valgum.
