Scalp psoriasis often stems from an imbalance primarily in the Pitta and Vata doshas, exacerbating symptoms like dryness, itching, and irritation. Addressing irregular lifestyle factors like sleep and eating patterns is fundamental, as they may aggravate the condition further. First, consider implementing a consistent routine. Try to wake up and sleep at the same time every day, and avoid meals late at night which can disrupt the digestive fire (Agni) and imbalance doshas further.

Internally, you can use Ayurvedic formulations like “Arogyavardhini Vati” which helps in detoxifying the body, reducing Pitta aggravation. Take one tablet twice a day with warm water or as prescribed after meals. However, always consult with a local Ayurvedic practitioner before starting any new medication.

For external scalp care, apply medicated oils such as “Neelibhringadi Taila” or “Khadiradi Oil” to soothe the scalp and calm itching. Warm the oil slightly before application, use gentle, circular motions for massaging the scalp, allowing it to remain for at least 30 minutes—the longer, the better, before washing it off with a mild Ayurvedic shampoo like “Shikakai or Reetha-based.”

Incorporate dietary changes by opting for foods that pacify Pitta, such as fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and avoid spicy, fried, or overly processed foods. Include bitter, astringent, and sweet flavors, and stay hydrated drinking 8-10 glasses of water daily. Herbal teas like “Triphala” or “Coriander-cumin-fennel tea” can help in balancing the doshas.

Regular practice of calming activities like yoga or meditation has a profound impact on stress management and body balance, which can mitigate flare-ups. Consider yoga poses like Savasana (Corpse pose) and Pranayama (breathing exercises) for at least 15 minutes a day.

Remember, Ayurveda treats conditions in a holistic manner, integrating body, mind, and lifestyle changes for long-term health. Combine these practices with consistent lifestyle adjustments, observing your body’s response. If there’s no noticeable improvement or symptoms worsen, it’s crucial to seek professional medical consultation.

Scalp psoriasis, from an Ayurvedic perspective, often stems from an imbalance of Vata and Pitta doshas, aggravated by irregular lifestyle patterns. First, managing stress and establishing regular routines in sleep and diet can help stabilize your doshas and reduce flare-ups. Prioritize going to bed and waking up at the same time each day – even small consistent efforts can make a difference over time.

In terms of topical treatments, you might find relief using oils that pacify the Vata and Pitta doshas, such as Coconut oil infused with neem and turmeric. Apply a warm mixture to your scalp, massaging gently before washing it out after an hour. This can help soothe dryness and itching. Doing this thrice a week could gradually improve your symptoms.

Internally, incorporating herbs like Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia) and Amla (Indian gooseberry) can be beneficial. These help detoxify the body and restore balance. You might consider taking Guduchi tablets and Amla juice daily – check instructions for specific dosage. Ensure you’re staying hydrated as well: plenty of warm water daily to maintain proper hydration.

Dietary adjustments can also support your treatment. Include foods that are cooling and alkalizing, such as fresh fruits and vegetables. Reduce intake of processed foods, spicy, and fried items which can imbalance the Pitta dosha further.

Remember, Ayurveda advocates individualized treatment plans, so it’s ideal to consult with an Ayurvedic practitioner in person for tailored guidance. If your symptoms persist or worsen, consult a healthcare provider for further evaluation.
