For enlarged prostate and LUTS (lower urinary tract symptoms), Ayurveda offers several approaches addressing the root cause. First, focusing on lifestyle and dietary changes is crucial, as these can significantly impact symptoms. Begin by incorporating light and easily digestible foods that support the digestive fire (agni). Minimize consumption of oily, spicy, or heavy foods that can aggravate the condition.

Consider introducing specific herbal remedies known in Ayurveda for supporting prostate health. Gokshura (Tribulus terrestris) is renowned for supporting the urinary system and may help alleviate urinary discomfort. Additionally, Varuna (Crataeva nurvala) is often recommended for healthy kidney and bladder function and potentially easing symptoms. These herbs can be taken in capsule form—usually a dose of 250 to 500 mg twice daily with lukewarm water, though precise dosage should be tailored with guidance from a local Ayurvedic practitioner.

Practicing regular pranayama such as Nadi Shodhana or Anulom Vilom can enhance circulation and help balance the doshas. These breathing exercises should be practiced every morning for about 10 minutes to help calm the mind and body, aiding overall health maintenance.

Hydration is key. Drink adequate water (warm or room temperature—avoid cold drinks), but do not overload your bladder when nearing bedtime to reduce nightly disturbances. Tender coconut water and barley water also act as natural diuretics, keeping the urinary tract cleansed.

Considering your presence of blood and protein in the urine, a more comprehensive approach in coordination with your healthcare team is essential. Keep monitoring with your urologist is vital to ensure there is no underlying condition needing immediate intervention. Remember, never replace prescribed medications with Ayurvedic treatments without consulting your healthcare provider first.
