Doctors' responses
Uterine prolapse at your age can be concerning, and managing it through Ayurveda requires a comprehensive approach tailored to your specific condition. Uterine prolapse is classified into stages, but without a direct examination, it’s challenging to precisely determine your stage from a description alone. However, your symptoms suggest a need for both local and systemic management.
In Ayurveda, prolapse conditions are often linked to a Vata imbalance, particularly Apana Vata, which governs downward movement in the body. Your symptoms like the feeling of a bulge and possible rectocele also align with this imbalance. To address this, a combination of dietary, lifestyle, and therapeutic interventions could be beneficial.
For dietary recommendations, focus on nurturing and grounding foods that balance Vata. Include warm, cooked meals with healthy fats like ghee. Avoid cold, dry, or raw foods, which can aggravate Vata.
Panchakarma treatments such as basti (medicated enema) are indeed beneficial, specifically Vata-pacifying basti using oils like Dashamoola taila. The number of sessions will depend on individual response, but a common approach involves a series of basti treatments over a few weeks, with periodic evaluations by your ayurvedic practitioner.
Oral medications may include formulations like Ashwagandha churna or Gokshura for strengthening and rejuvenation. These can be taken for several months but should be personalized based on your Prakriti (body constitution) and existing imbalances.
As for your concern about stages and reversal to stage 0, it may not be entirely possible as prolapse can be progressive. However, symptoms and progression can be managed and improved significantly with consistent Ayurveda practice. For rectocele, focusing on strengthening pelvic floor muscles with techniques like modified yoga, and continuing Kegel exercises gently might help along with abhyanga (self massage with sesame oil).
Finally, regarding rectocele and uterine prolapse, Ayurvedic treatment tends to be holistic, so often, the same regimen addresses related issues without needing separate medicines. Consistency is key. In case of worsening symptoms or unresolving issues, consider consulting with a healthcare professional specialized in this area to evaluate the necessity of surgical interventions.
