Doctors' responses

Hlo,

After menopause, ovaries normally become inactive. So any ovarian cyst needs closer attention compared to a younger woman.

Your cyst history: 5.6 cm → 4.8 cm (shrunk) ✅ Then increased to 6.2 cm after 6 months ❗

This pattern (shrink → regrow) is important.

Why this is concerning (but not panic-worthy) In post-menopause:- - Simple cysts <5 cm → usually monitored - >5 cm or increasing in size → needs proper evaluation

Increase in size suggests: - The cyst is not resolving on its own - Could be benign but persistent - Needs to rule out malignancy, even if chances are low ⚠️ Size >6 cm + growth trend = cannot be ignored

My clear advice to you ✔ Do not delay evaluation ✔ Get CA-125 + detailed imaging ✔ Take gynecologist / gynec-oncologist opinion ✔ Do not rely on observation alone anymore MRI, USG pelvis should be done

POSTMENOPAUSAL OVARIAN CYST THAT HAS SHOWN FLUCTUATION IN SIZE OVER THE PAST YEAR POSTMENOPAUSAL CYSTS REQUIRE CAREFUL MONITORING BECAUSE THE RISK OF MALIGNANCY INCREASES AFTER MENOPAUSE ESPECIALLY IF THE CYST SIZE IS ABOVE 5 CM OR SHOWS GROWTH

IN YOUR CASE THE CYST SHRANK TO 4.8 CM AND NOW GREW TO 6.2 CM OVER SIX MONTHS THIS FLUCTUATION SUGGESTS THAT THE CYST IS ACTIVE AND NEEDS CLOSE OBSERVATION AND APPROPRIATE INTERVENTION

Hello I can understand your concern. Finding an ovarian cyst after menopause is naturally scary, especially when it’s changing size. But dont worry we are here to help you out 😊

YOUR SITUATION

–You’re a post-menopausal woman with an ovarian cyst that’s gone from 5.6 cm to 4.8 cm, then up to 6.2 cm.

– It’s been shrinking, then growing again, and you’re past menopause.

This pattern needs a careful, smart look, not panic, but don’t ignore it either.

AYURVEDIC VIEW

In Ayurveda, post-menopausal ovarian cysts are seen as: –Granthi or Arbuda(which means cystic or solid growths) –Mostly Kapha, making them cystic –Vata messing with the size changes –Problems with Rakta and Artava vaha srotas (blood and reproductive channels)

After menopause, Apana Vata gets weak, so these cysts don’t usually go away on their own.

👉 Cysts after menopause are different from those earlier in life and need a careful approach.

SUPER IMPORTANT MEDICAL INFO (LISTEN UP)

Any ovarian cyst that: –Sticks around after menopause –Gets bigger –Is bigger than 5 cm 👉 Needs to be checked for cancer FIRST, before you try any Ayurvedic medicines or treatments.

This is just a safety rule, not meant to scare you.

WHAT TO DO RIGHT AWAY (FIRST THINGS FIRST) Before trying any alternative treatments:

1. MUST-DO TESTS Please make sure you’ve done or had these checked:

* CA-125 blood test * Transvaginal ultrasound with Doppler to see: * If the cyst is simple or complex * If it has partitions * Any solid parts * Blood flow * If your gynecologist suggests it, an MRI of your pelvis

👉 Ayurveda should never skip these steps.

CAN AYURVEDA HELP? ✅ YES — Ayurveda is HELPFUl but diagnosis is most important before starting the treatment

AYURVEDIC TREATMENT (ONLY AFTER THE ALL-CLEAR) If cancer is ruled out, Ayurveda aims to:

TREATMENT GOALS * Stop it from growing more * Shrink it slowly * Keep it from coming back * Balance Vata-Kapha * Improve blood flow to the pelvis

My genuine request to you to follow up after the test

Till the you can have

1 kanchanar guggulu 1-0-1 after food 2 Varunadi kashayam 15ml-0-15ml + 45 ml water after food

What to expect: slow results, over 3–6 months.

⚠️ Strong detox treatments are NOT a good idea for post-menopausal cysts.

FOOD AND LIFESTYLE (HELPFUL, BUT NOT THE MAIN THING)

INCLUDE * Too much dairy * Fried, heavy, oily foods * Sugar and baked goods * Sleeping during the day

AVOID * Light, warm meals * Cooked vegetables * Barley, millets * Buttermilk with roasted cumin * Gentle walking every day

WHAT YOU SHOULDN’T DO

❌ Don’t ignore that it’s getting bigger. ❌ Don’t just rely on home remedies. ❌ Don’t start harsh detoxes. ❌ Don’t put off seeing your gynecologist again.

MAIN POINTS TO REMEMBER

Size changes + post-menopause = be careful Rule out cancer first Ayurveda can help only after you’re sure it’s safe Making smart, timely choices prevents bigger problems

You’re doing great by keeping an eye on it. The next step is a proper check-up and guided treatment, not guessing.

Warm Regards Dr. Snehal Vidhate

🌿 Diet Tips - Favor light, warm, cooked foods: Khichdi, soups, lightly spiced dals, and steamed vegetables help reduce kapha and keep digestion smooth. - Include spices that aid metabolism: Turmeric, ginger, cumin, coriander, and black pepper in small amounts can help balance hormones and reduce inflammation. - Lean proteins: Moong dal, lentils, and small portions of fish or chicken if you take non‑veg. - Healthy fats: A little ghee or sesame oil supports tissue health without aggravating kapha. - Limit kapha‑aggravating foods: Avoid excess dairy (especially cheese, cream, curd at night), fried/oily foods, red meat, and very cold or processed foods. - Hydration: Warm water or herbal teas (like tulsi, ginger, or cinnamon) instead of chilled drinks.

🌸 Lifestyle Tips - Daily routine: Gentle yoga (cat‑cow, butterfly pose, mild twists) to improve pelvic circulation. Pranayama (anulom‑vilom, bhramari) for stress and hormonal balance. Abhyanga (warm sesame oil massage) once or twice a week to calm vata and improve circulation. - Sleep: Aim for 7–8 hours of restful sleep; avoid late nights. - Stress management: Meditation, chanting, or even creative activities like drawing or music can help balance hormones. - Regular monitoring: Keep track of cyst size and symptoms with your doctor every 6 months or as advised.
