Hello I totally get what you’re going through. Driving a big truck for close to 38 years, always using your right leg for the gas and brake, it’s no wonder your right hip is probably feeling stiff, achy, and maybe even a bit arthritic by now.

Retirement doesn’t magically fix all that strain right away, and arthritis can really make stiffness unbearable. But don’t worry, this is something we can definitely manage, and Ayurveda has some really smart ways to help.

YOUR CONCERN

– You’ve driven trucks for a LONG time (38 years). – That means lots of constant stress on your right hip. – Now you’ve got stiffness and less movement in that hip. – You’ve been told you have arthritis. – And it’s still bothering you even after you stopped working.

AYURVEDIC UNDERSTANDING In simple terms, Ayurveda sees your hip problem as:

* A type of joint issue called Vata-pradhana Sandhigata Vata (that’s just a fancy way of saying your hip joint is affected by an imbalance).

–Heaps of overuse: You’ve been working that joint hard for decades. –Small injuries over time: Sitting in that truck posture for so long probably caused tiny bits of damage. –Aging: As we get older, things just naturally get a bit out of whack. –Less joint lube: Over time, the natural slippery stuff in your joint can wear down.

So, this isn’t sudden arthritis; it’s more like your joint has been through a lot of wear and tear, made worse by that Vata imbalance. That’s why:

* It feels worse after you’ve been sitting still. * Moving feels restricted. * Cold weather makes it ache more. * And sometimes, a little gentle movement actually helps.

AYURVEDIC PLAN OF TREATMENT

INTERNAL MEDICATION

1 Yograj Guggulu: Take 1 tablet twice a day after eating. (This helps with deep-seated pain and makes your joints move better.)

2.Dashmoolarishta: Drink 20–30 ml twice a day after eating, mixed with the same amount of water. ( It’s great for long-term arthritis and helps with stiffness and swelling.)

3.Ashwagandha Churna: Have ½ teaspoon at night with warm milk. (It helps strengthen the muscles around your hip and slows down joint wear.)

4.Shallaki (Boswellia) Capsule 1-0-1 after food (This reduces swelling from arthritis and makes walking more comfortable.)

EXTERNAL CARE

1. Daily Oil Massage (Abhyanga): Use Mahanarayana Taila or Kottamchukkadi Taila. On your right hip, thigh, and lower back. 15–20 minutes every day. Take a warm bath.

2. Warm Compress (Swedana): Use a hot water bottle or steam on your hip. Do this for 10–15 minutes after your massage. It really helps with stiffness.

3. Special Treatments (Panchakarma): If you can, try Janu Basti or Kati Basti – these are hip-focused oil treatments. They’re especially good for arthritis that’s been around for a while.

DIET AND LIFESTYLE

INCLUDE (Helpful for Vata Imbalance)

- Eat warm, freshly cooked meals. - Things like rice, wheat, and moong dal are good. - A little bit of ghee is okay. - Have vegetable soups. * AVOID: Cold food and drinks, really dry food.

WHAT TO AVOID DOING:

* Don’t keep bending or squatting a lot. * Don’t sit for too long without moving. * Stay out of cold drafts.

KEEP MOVING GENTLY (Don’t stop moving completely!)

* Walk slowly on flat ground. * Do gentle hip circles (only as far as it doesn’t hurt). * Don’t make sudden jerky movements or go for long walks. * Resting too much actually makes arthritis stiffness worse.

Since this arthritis built up over many years:

- It’s not realistic to expect it to completely vanish. - BUT, you can make a huge difference in the pain, stiffness, and how well you move.

With regular oiling, the right meds, and looking after yourself: –Pain should ease up in 3–4 weeks. –Stiffness should get better in 6–8 weeks. – Daily stuff will become much easier.

Warm Regards Dr. Snehal Vidhate

Long years of driving heavy vehicles put continuous vibration pressure and fixed posture stress on the hip lower back and pelvic joints so what you are experiencing now is very common after retirement especially when arthritis has already set in This stiffness is usually due to joint degeneration muscle tightness reduced lubrication and poor local circulation rather than only age

The aim is to reduce stiffness nourish the joint calm inflammation and slowly restore mobility without strain

Ayurvedic medicines you can take

Mahayograj guggulu One tablet twice daily after food with warm water

Rasnadi guggulu One tablet twice daily after food with warm water

Ashwagandha powder Half teaspoon twice daily with warm milk or warm water

Shallaki capsules or tablet One capsule or tablet twice daily after food

Dashmoolarishta Four teaspoons twice daily after food mixed with equal water

Daily warm oil massage over lower back hip and thigh region using Mahanarayan oil or followed by warm water bath or hot fomentation

Avoid sudden twisting bending or sitting for long hours Use a firm but cushioned seat Short frequent walks are better than long walks

Avoid very cold foods excess sour fried and packaged items Include cooked vegetables dal soups ghee in small quantity

With regular medicine oil therapy and light movement stiffness usually reduces gradually over two to three months

If pain suddenly increases night pain becomes severe or there is numbness radiating down the leg then further evaluation like X ray or MRI of hip and spine is advised
