AYURVEDIC UNDERSTANDING
From an Ayurvedic point of view, this is a fierce Vata-Pitta disorder with Grahani (gut function) and mind-gut axis issues mixed in.
Your digestive “fire” is misfiring—not just too much acid. So you get burning, but without ulcers, and your food isn’t breaking down right. That’s why your appetite is shot, and there’s undigested stuff in your stool.
Pitta is stuck in your stomach because Vata’s out of balance. So you get burning, but PPIs and antacids don’t help, since it’s not the usual acid problem.
Alcohol, for a while, calmed down the Vata and numbed things, which is why it helped at first. But long-term, it’s wrecked your digestion, irritated your gut, and made your nerves more sensitive. That’s why things get worse when you stop drinking, and why mornings are so rough.
There’s also a breakdown in your gut-brain connection. The fear of the burning, the constant anxiety, depression, feeling like tests are “normal” but you feel miserable—that’s all part of it.
We have to be clear:
More antibiotics? No. Higher doses of PPIs? Won’t fix this. Random supplements? Not gonna work. Alcohol? It’s feeding the cycle now, not helping.
You need a step-by-step, gentle approach that works with your nervous system, not against it.
What’s the goal? Calm the “fire” in your gut without killing your digestion. Steady your nerves. Fix the gut function. Slowly, safely move away from alcohol. Get your appetite and confidence back. Get your life back.
AYURVEDIC PLAN OF TREATMENT
INTERNAL MEDICATION
– Kamdudha Ras (plain, no Mukta): 1 tab twice a day, empty stomach, room temp water. This is the core medicine—cools the fire without shutting down digestion, and it’s safe when used right.
– Shatavari Churna: 1 tsp twice a day with warm milk or water. Deep cooling, soothes your gut lining, calms the anxiety that hits your stomach.
– Bilva Avaleha: 1 tsp before lunch and dinner. Repairs gut function, helps you digest food, stops undigested stools.
– Drakshasava: 15ml + equal water after lunch. Gently relaxes your nerves, boosts appetite, helps dial down alcohol cravings.
– Ashwagandha (low dose, 250mg at night): Steadies your nervous system, eases fear and withdrawal, supports the gut-brain link.
Big warning about alcohol:
Don’t try to quit suddenly and alone. That can make everything worse—burning, anxiety, even your health. Taper off slowly, ideally with medical help or a de-addiction specialist. You’re not being judged. This is medical care, not a moral failing.
