GOOD MORNING HANUMANTH THANK YOU FOR REACHING OUT AND TRUSTING WITH YOUR HEALTH JOURNEY I CAN UNDERSTAND YOUR CONFUSION AND ANXIETY AND YOU HAVE EXPLAINED YOUR PROBLEM WELL SO PLEASE DONT WORRY
WHAT YOU ARE DOING DAILY DRINKING ONE LITRE WATER AND HOLDING URINE FOR LONG TIME TO WAIT FOR MOTION IS NOT A HEALTHY PRACTICE AND IN AYURVEDA THIS IS CALLED VEGADHARANA SUPPRESSION OF NATURAL URGES WHEN URINE IS SUPPRESSED VATA GETS AGGRAVATED AND IT DIRECTLY AFFECTS BASTI AND MUTRAVAH SROTAS WHICH INCLUDES KIDNEYS AND URINARY SYSTEM THIS CAN CAUSE A STRANGE DISCOMFORT HEAVINESS MILD PAIN OR UNEASY FEELING ESPECIALLY ON ONE SIDE EVEN WITHOUT ANY CHANGE IN URINE REPORTS
YOUR LEFT SIDE DISCOMFORT IS MOST LIKELY DUE TO VATA PRAKOPA AND STRAIN ON KIDNEY REGION MUSCLES AND NERVES AND NOT NECESSARILY A KIDNEY DISEASE ESPECIALLY SINCE YOU HAVE NO BURNING NO COLOR CHANGE NO FEVER AND IT IS RECENT
ALSO DRINKING ONE LITRE WATER AT ONCE IS PUTTING SUDDEN LOAD ON STOMACH AND KIDNEYS AND IN EROSIVE ANTRAL GASTRITIS THIS PRACTICE CAN AGGRAVATE BOTH PITTA AND VATA LEADING TO CONSTIPATION GAS AND DISCOMFORT
FROM TODAY PLEASE STOP HOLDING URINE WHENEVER THE URGE COMES GO IMMEDIATELY EVEN IF MOTION DOES NOT COME FIRST NEVER SUPPRESS URINE OR STOOL
FOR CONSTIPATION AND GASTRITIS BALANCE FOLLOW THIS TAKE TRIPHALA CHURNA HALF TEASPOON WITH WARM WATER AT NIGHT TAKE AVIPATTIKAR CHURNA HALF TEASPOON TWICE DAILY BEFORE FOOD TAKE GOKSHURADI GUGGULU ONE TABLET TWICE DAILY AFTER FOOD FOR MUTRA VAHA SROTAS SUPPORT AND VATA BALANCE TAKE SHATABDI GHRITA OR PLAIN COW GHEE ONE TEASPOON AT NIGHT WITH WARM MILK IF SUITS
MORNING ROUTINE SHOULD BE ONE GLASS OF WARM WATER NOT ONE LITRE AT ONCE YOU CAN SIP ANOTHER GLASS AFTER SOME TIME WALK A LITTLE AND RELAX DO NOT STRAIN
AVOID VERY SPICY SOUR FRIED FOOD TEA COFFEE BAKERY ITEMS AND LATE DINNER TAKE SIMPLE WARM FOOD AND EAT ON TIME
FOR YOUR SATISFACTION AND SAFETY BASIC INVESTIGATIONS ARE ADVISED ULTRASOUND ABDOMEN URINE ROUTINE SERUM CREATININE AND BLOOD UREA THESE WILL MOST LIKELY BE NORMAL BUT WILL CLEAR DOUBT AND GIVE PEACE OF MIND
THIS DISCOMFORT IS REVERSIBLE AND FUNCTIONAL NOT PERMANENT DAMAGE IF YOU CORRECT THE HABIT NOW WITH PROPER AYURVEDIC SUPPORT YOUR DIGESTION URINATION AND COMFORT WILL IMPROVE GRADUALLY DO NOT WORRY AND PLEASE LISTEN TO BODY SIGNALS
Don’t hold urine – it can cause kidney/bladder discomfort Don’t drink 1 litre at once in the morning Drink small amounts slowly Go to toilet when urge comes Left-side discomfort is often from urine holding or gas Do this now Warm water, 1–2 glasses only Urinate freely Constipation will improve gradually
Hanumaj ji Ayurveda says don’t hold any natural proces urine etc… Avoid 1 lit water in morning Take isabgol at night with water 1 tsp Take 1 tsp cow ghee with warm water at morning empty stomach Take goghru tab 2 time days
Holding urine repeatedly is never advised especially when done daily for months because according to both modern medicine and ayurveda suppression of natural urges is a major cause of discomfort and disease
When you drink one litre of water in the morning your kidneys start filtering actively and urine forms quickly if at that time you suppress the urge to urinate the pressure backs up slightly towards the urinary tract and surrounding muscles this can cause mild pain heaviness or discomfort especially on one side
In ayurveda this is called vegadharana suppression of urine urge which aggravates vata in the basti region and can lead to flank discomfort lower abdominal tightness gas worsening constipation and even anxiety
The left side discomfort you are feeling is most likely muscular or functional strain around the kidney area rather than kidney disease because your symptoms are recent there is no burning no change in urine color no fever and no reduction in urine output
Your erosive antral gastritis and constipation are already indicating disturbed digestion and vata pitta imbalance excessive water intake at once and forceful bowel routine further disturbs this balance
For constipation you should never hold urine to wait for motion instead bowel movement should be encouraged gently and naturally
Start by reducing sudden water load instead of one litre at once sip warm water slowly over 20 to 30 minutes after waking
Do not suppress urine at any cost whenever urge comes pass urine first then sit for bowel movement
Include warm cooked food avoid sour spicy fried items coffee and late meals to heal gastritis
Internally take TRIPHALA CHURNA 1 tsp with warm water at night daily it will soften stool and regulate bowel movement without strain
Take GANDHARVA HARITAKI 1 tab at night with warm water for 2 to 3 weeks to correct constipation gently
For urinary tract and vata balance take GOKSHURADI GUGGULU 2 tabs twice daily after food with warm water it supports urinary system and relieves flank discomfort
Apply warm castor oil or sesame oil and gentle hot water fomentation on the left lower back area at night
If pain increases persists more than a week or if you develop burning urine fever or visible changes then investigations like urine routine and ultrasound abdomen should be done to rule out stone or infection
For now this appears to be a functional issue due to urine suppression and digestive imbalance which is reversible
Correcting habits supporting digestion and stopping urine suppression will gradually relieve the discomfort and also improve your gastritis and constipation together
Hello, If there is no change in the colour of urine, frequency of urination and if there is no pain while urinating, it may not be much significant(may be just related to constipation and the gastritis): Please start the following continue for 45 days: 1. Yashtimadhu ksheerapaka in the empty stomach as first thing in the morning (Method of preparation)- Take 1 cup milk+1/2 cup water;boil;once strat boiling add one teaspoon of yashtimadhu churna; let the mixture boil till only milk remains;now strain to remove the powder and drink the milk. 2. Ulsant D syrup 10ml—10ml----10ml 30 minutes before each meal 3. Vayu Gulika(vaidyaratnam) 2----2----2 with cumin tea after each meal
Diet- 1. Drink 2 liters of boiled warm water(boiled with one teaspoon of roasted cumin seeds) a day 2. Avoid spicy food for 45 days 3. Avoid curd for dinner 4. Avoid green peas, potatoes for 45 days. 5. Avoid outside food, buiscuits and other processed food completly. 6. Let there be a gap of 2 hours between dinner and going to bed.
Take care, Kind regards.
Hi Well I would like to recommend to go for blood test LFT and KFT and USG whole abdomen to rule out renal calculi or other issues For your presence condition Tab Alsarex-2-BD Syp eracid-20 ml BD Tab gasex -2-BD Syp livcure 10 ml BD Avoid salty and spicy food
Drinking 1 litre water first thing in the morning + deliberately holding urine for long periods (to force bowel movement) is very harmful to kidneys & bladder, especially with gastritis meds. It causes bladder over distension, back-pressure to kidneys and can lead to mild hydronephrosis or infection.
Stop holding urine completely, pass urine whenever you feel the urge. Reduce morning water to 300 ml warm water only, sip slowly, not all at once. Do NOT force bowel movement by holding urine, this is causing kidney strain.
Medicines 1 Triphala Churna – 3 gm night with warm water (gentle, regularizes bowels without forcing) 2 Abhayarishta – 15 ml + 30 ml warm water after dinner (softens stool, reduces straining) 3 Punarnavadi Mandoor – 250 mg morning + night after food (supports kidneys, reduces discomfort) 4 Avipattikar Churna – 3 gm + warm water before dinner (continues gastritis relief)
Diet & Routine Eat moong khichdi + ghee, papaya, pomegranate, cooked veggies. Avoid spicy, oily, heavy food. Vajrasana 10 min after meals. Drink 2.5–3 L water spread throughout day (not all morning).
If kidney discomfort increases, urine becomes cloudy or fever appears then see urologist/nephrologist immediately (ultrasound may be needed).
Regards Dr Gursimran Jeet Singh MD Panchakarma
1.Avipattikar churna 1 tsp twice daily with warm water before meals 2.Kamdugdha rasa (Moti yukta) 1 tab twice daily with water after meals 3.Gokshuardi guggulu 2 tab twice daily with water after meals 4.Triphala churna 1 tsp at bedtime with warm water 5.Syp.Amlapitta mishran 2 tsp thrice daily
🥗 Lifestyle & Routine - Water intake: Instead of 1 litre at once, sip warm water throughout the morning. This prevents kidney strain and still supports bowel movement. - Constipation relief: Add soaked raisins, figs, or 1 tsp ghee in warm milk at bedtime. - Diet: Avoid spicy, sour, and fried foods (they worsen gastritis). Prefer soft khichdi, soups, and boiled vegetables. - Urination habit: Never hold urine. Respond naturally; constipation can be managed with diet and mild laxatives instead.
Warm Regards DR. ANJALI SEHRAWAT
HELLO,
You are suffering from erosive astral gastritis, along with chronic constipation , and now you feel mild discomfort near the left kidney area
Important reassurance first At present, this does NOT Look like kidney disease. Your symptoms strongly suggest a functional problem due to wrong habits, not organ damage.
WHAT IS ACTUALLY HAPPENING INSIDE YOUR BODY?
1) STOMACH PROBLEM (Gastritis) -your stomach lining is inflamed and sensitive According to Ayurveda -Pitta dosha (heat, acid) is increased -Vata dosha (movement, dryness) is disturbed
This causes -acidity -poor digestion -gas -weak bowel movements
2) CONSTIPATION(root cause) -Constipation means apana vata is not moving downward properly -when stool stays inside= gas forms, pressure increases in abdomen, nearby organs get affected
In Ayurveda, constipation is the root disease for many problems
3) YOUR MORNING HABIT (main mistake) you are doing two harmful things
Drinking 1 LITRE water suddenly -weakens digestion -increases gas and bloating -pushes urine forcefully
Holding urine intentionally -This is called Mutra Vega dharana -Ayurveda clearly says this causes = back pain, kidney region discomfort, urinary tract weakness, vata imbalance
When urine is suppressed repeatedly -pressure travels backward -muscles around kidney region get strained -pain is vague, dull, uncomfortable (exactly what you described)
WHY PAIN IS ON THE LEFT SIDE? Left side has -descending colon(stool area) -kidney and ureter nearby
Constipation + gas + urine suppression -> causes referred pain, not kidney disease
TREATMENT GOALS -calm pitta-> heal gastritis -normalize apana vata->correct constipation -protect Mutravaha srotas-> urinary system -prevent future kidney stress -restore digestion naturally
INTERNAL MEDICATIONS
1) AVIPATTIKAR CHURNA= 1/2 tsp at night with warm water =neutralizes excess stomach acid, heals erosive gastritis, prevents burning sour belching, gentle laxative (does not irritate stomach)
2) TRIPHALA CHURNA= 1/2 tsp at bedtime with lukewarm water =regulates bowel movement, removes toxins, strengthens intestines
IF triphala causes discomfort, Isabgol can be used instead.
3) PUNARNAVA MANDUR= 1 tab twice daily after meals =supports kidney and urinary function , reduces fluid stagnation, relieves flank discomfort, excellent for urinary tract protection
4) SHATAVARI CHURNA= 1/2 tsp twice daily with warm milk =cools stomach, heals gastric lining, pacifies pitta, prevents recurrence of gastritis
EXTERNAL TREATMENT
OIL MASSAGE = WARM SESAME OIL -Massage = lower back, abdomen (clockwise) -Duration= 10-15 min daily or alternate days =calms vata, improves bowel movement, relieves kidney region muscle tension
YOGA ASANAS -pawanmuktasnaa= gas releif -malasana= improves bowel movement -bhujangasana= improves digestion -apanasana
PRANAYAM -Anulom Vilom= 10 minutes -sheetali/sheetkari= for acidity -avoid kapalbhati for now too harsh
DIET -warm, freshly cooked meals -rice, dal, vegetable soups -buttermilk daytime only -ghee in small quantity
AVOID -tea,coffee -spicy, and fried food -sour, pickles -late night eating -bakery items
HOME REMEDIES -warm water sipping throughout day -soaked raisins 5-6 at night -cumin + coriander boiled water -coconut water not daily 2-3 times/week
MOST IMPORTANT LIFESTYLE RULES -never hold urine -do not force bowel movement -no sudden excess water intake -sleep on time -avoid stress
Hanumanth ji,
Your body is warning you early, not damaging you yet. -This condition is fully reversible -No kidney disease signs now -correct habits + Ayurveda=complete recovery
If you follow this sincerely for 4-6 weeks, your -gastritis -constipation -kidney discomfort will gradually disappear
DO FOLLOW
HOPE THIS MIGHT BE HELPFUL
THANK YOU
DR. MAITRI ACHARYA
Namaste Hanumanth ji,
I can sense your worry, and honestly, it’s good you’re paying attention to your body. But dont worry we are here to help you out 😊
YOUR CONCERN
–Known issue: Erosive antral gastritis –Current meds: Ongoing treatment for gastritis –Main problem: Mild discomfort or a light pain near your left –kidney, going on for less than a week –Habits: Drinking about a litre of water first thing in the morning; holding in urine intentionally so you can pass stools first (been doing this for about three months) –Changes in urine: None — no burning, no color change, no pain –Digestion: So-so, with frequent issues and a tendency toward constipation
First off, please don’t panic. From what you’ve shared, this doesn’t sound like kidney damage. Still, holding in urine isn’t a great habit. It really can make you uncomfortable and mess with how your system works.
AYURVEDIC UNDERSTANDING
In Ayurveda, what’s happening can be summed up like this: - Apana Vata is disturbed (constipation plus holding back natural urges) - The urinary system (Mutravaha srotas) is irritated - There’s weak digestion (Agnimandya) from your gastritis
Ayurveda has long warned about suppressing urine (Mutra Vega Dharana). Doing this can cause: - Discomfort in the lower back or kidney area - Irritation in your urinary tract - Aggravation of Vata
Is This a Kidney Disease?
Based on your symptoms: No burning when you urinate No change in urine color No fever No severe pain So, right now, this seems more like discomfort from Vata imbalance, not actual kidney disease. But if you ignore it, things could get worse.
WHAT YOU SHOULD DO NOW?
1. Stop holding your urine. Don’t wait for a bowel movement — if you feel the urge, go and pass urine first. Just changing this habit can ease your discomfort in a few days.
2. Change your morning water routine.
Drinking a whole litre at once isn’t helpful. It can overstretch your bladder, make you rush to pee, and disturb Apana Vata. Try this instead: Have two glasses of warm water when you wake up. Wait 10–15 minutes. If you’re still thirsty, drink one more glass.
INTERNAL MEDICATION
1. Punarnava Mandura 1 tablet, twice a day after meals Supports kidneys, calms inflammation, helps balance water and Vata
2. Triphala Churna Half a teaspoon with warm water at bedtime Keeps your bowels moving gently, prevents constipation, and lessens the need to hold urine
3. Gokshuradi Guggulu 1 tablet, twice a day after food Strengthens the urinary tract, relieves kidney-bladder discomfort, balances Vata and Kapha
DIET AND LIFESTYLE TIPS
–Skip very spicy, sour, or fried foods — these can trigger your gastritis. –No late dinners. –Don’t ignore your body’s signals (whether it’s urine, stool, or gas). –Try sitting in Vajrasana for 5–10 minutes after meals.
–Tests (if pain sticks around more than a week) If you’re still uncomfortable after 7–10 days, get a urine routine test and an ultrasound of your kidneys and bladder. This is just to be safe.
Right now, your symptoms are functional and reversible. They’re mostly from holding in urine and a Vata imbalance. Fixing your habits and adding some gentle Ayurvedic remedies should help you bounce back.
Take care, and keep me posted in about a week.
Warm regards, Dr Snehal Vidhate
