Bleeding continuously for more than 20 days is abnormal uterine bleeding and needs urgent gynecological evaluation (ultrasound + Hb + hormonal assessment). If you feel dizziness, weakness, breathlessness, or clots increasing, do not delay hospital visit. Ayurvedic support to control bleeding and stabilize: Ashokarishta 20 ml with equal warm water twice daily after food Lodhra churna 3 g twice daily with honey or rice water after food Mochras (Shalmali gum) 500 mg twice daily with cold water Praval pishti 250 mg twice daily with honey after food (helps calcium and bleeding control) Continue Kanchanar guggulu only if prescribed earlier, but it is not the main medicine for bleeding control Diet and care Avoid spicy, sour, fermented foods Take rice gruel, coconut water, pomegranate juice Complete rest, avoid physical strain Do not take hot fomentation on abdomen
In Ayurveda, prolonged bleeding is primarily a Pitta-dominant disorder where the Rakta Dhatu (blood tissue) is aggravated by excess heat. The goal is Stambhana (stopping the flow) and Pitta-Shamana (calming the heat). Sheetala Upachara (Cooling Treatments): Apply cold compresses or a cloth soaked in cool water over the lower abdomen and pelvic region to help constrict blood vessels. Rest: Complete physical and mental rest is non-negotiable. Physical exertion increases Vayu, which can further push the Pitta out of the body. Pushyanuga Churna: 3gm BD with ( tandulodaka or if not taking tandulodaka then take honey) this is the gold standard for various types of uterine bleeding. It is often taken with Tandulodaka (rice water) for better absorption and efficacy. Boladi Vati: 1 BD after food with normal water .a potent herbo-mineral formulation specifically used to check excessive menstrual flow. Ashokarishta: 15ml medicine+ 15 ml normal water take BD after food While often used for regularizing cycles, in acute phases, it acts as a uterine tonic to help the endometrium heal. Loha Bhasma / Punarnava Mandur: 1BD with normal water after food Since bleeding has lasted 23 days, anemia (Pandu) is a significant risk. These are used to replenish iron levels Avoid: Spicy foods, papaya, pineapple, sesame seeds, garlic, and hot tea/coffee, as these are Ushna (hot) and will worsen the bleeding.
