DISMH stands for the Department of Indian Systems of Medicine and Homeopathy, which was a governmental body in India responsible for the development and promotion of traditional systems of medicine, including Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy. Its primary focus was to regulate, promote, and integrate these systems into the mainstream healthcare framework. While DISMH played a significant role in research, education, and standardization, it has since been reorganized under the Ministry of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy).

The ministry now oversees activities such as quality control of Ayurvedic products, certification of practitioners, and promotion of evidence-based traditional medicine practices. DISMH, during its existence, collaborated with health organizations and regulatory bodies to ensure the authenticity and safety of Ayurvedic treatments and products.
