Doctors’ responses
For dandruff, hair fall, and achieving silky, shiny hair, Ayurveda offers effective remedies. First, you can try applying a mixture of neem oil and coconut oil to your scalp, as neem has anti-fungal properties that can help reduce dandruff, while coconut oil nourishes the hair. Regular scalp massages with warm bhringraj oil or amla oil can stimulate hair growth, improve circulation, and strengthen hair follicles. For hair growth and reducing hair fall, you may also use a herbal paste of bhringraj, hibiscus, and fenugreek powder applied to your scalp. Incorporate a diet rich in vitamin C, iron, and omega-3 fatty acids, including amla, sesame seeds, and leafy greens, to nourish hair from within. Avoid excessive heat or chemical treatments, and maintain a balanced lifestyle with good sleep, stress management, and hydration. If the problem persists, consider consulting with an Ayurvedic practitioner for personalized guidance.

Namaste, Vaishali Ji,
Your concerns about dandruff, hair fall, and achieving silky, shiny hair are common issues that can be addressed effectively with Ayurvedic remedies and proper care. Ayurveda focuses on balancing the doshas (Vata, Pitta, Kapha) to restore harmony in the body and scalp.
1. For Reducing Dandruff (Kapha imbalance):
Dandruff is often caused by excess Kapha and dryness. Here are remedies:
Neem Oil Treatment:
Warm neem oil slightly and massage it into your scalp. Leave it overnight and wash with a mild herbal shampoo the next day. Neem has antifungal and antibacterial properties.
Lemon and Coconut Oil:
Mix 1 tablespoon of lemon juice with 2 tablespoons of coconut oil. Massage your scalp with this mixture and wash after 30 minutes. Lemon helps in balancing scalp pH.
Fenugreek (Methi) Paste:
Soak 2 tablespoons of fenugreek seeds overnight. Grind them into a paste and apply to the scalp. Leave for 30 minutes and rinse with lukewarm water.
2. To Prevent Hair Fall (Vata imbalance):
Hair fall can be due to poor nutrition or aggravated Vata.
Bhringraj Oil Massage:
Warm Bhringraj oil and gently massage it into your scalp. This promotes hair growth, strengthens roots, and reduces hair fall. Use it 2-3 times a week.
Aloe Vera Gel:
Apply fresh aloe vera gel to your scalp. It soothes irritation and strengthens hair follicles.
Dietary Changes:
Include foods rich in iron, zinc, and proteins such as spinach, lentils, almonds, and sesame seeds in your diet.
3. For Silky, Shiny Hair (Pitta pacification):
Hibiscus Pack:
Blend hibiscus leaves and flowers into a paste. Apply it to your scalp and hair for 30 minutes, then wash off with a herbal shampoo.
Amla (Indian Gooseberry) Mask:
Mix amla powder with water to form a paste. Apply to your scalp and hair for 30 minutes and rinse. Amla strengthens hair and adds shine.
Rice Water Rinse:
Use fermented rice water as a final rinse after washing your hair. It smoothens hair and promotes shine.
4. General Hair Care Tips:
Avoid Chemical Shampoos: Use herbal shampoos containing shikakai, reetha, or amla.
Regular Oiling: Massage your hair with oils like coconut, sesame, or castor oil to nourish and moisturize your scalp.
Yoga & Pranayama: Practice yoga poses like Adho Mukha Svanasana (Downward Dog) and Balasana (Child Pose) to improve blood circulation to the scalp.
Hydration: Drink plenty of water and herbal teas like tulsi or ginger tea to flush out toxins.
5. Ayurvedic Hair Mask Recipe:
Ingredients:
2 tablespoons of hibiscus powder
1 tablespoon of amla powder
1 tablespoon of fenugreek powder
2 tablespoons of curd
Method:
Mix all ingredients into a paste and apply to your scalp and hair. Leave it for 30-45 minutes and wash off with lukewarm water.
Follow this regimen consistently for a few months, and you will notice significant improvements. Patience and regularity are key in Ayurveda.

Oh, dealing with dandruff can be such a hassle, right? It's like you've tried everything, but it just won't go away! Okay, first thing's first, let's dive into how Ayurveda can help you out here.
In Ayurveda, dandruff is often linked to an imbalance in the Pitta and Vata doshas. It’s like, if there’s too much heat and dryness in your system, your scalp starts acting like a desert. To tackle this, you can start by doing a warm oil massage on your scalp with coconut oil or sesame oil. These oils have cooling properties that can help balance that heat. Just gently warm the oil and massage it onto your scalp before bedtime at least twice a week. You can wash it off the next morning.
Now, for shiny and silky hair, Amla (Indian gooseberry) is a superstar in Ayurveda. It not only helps with dandruff but also restores shine. Consider using Amla oil or consuming Amla juice regularly. You might also want to check out Shikakai; it's an herb you can make a paste with. Mix it with a little water, apply it to your hair, and rinse out after it dries. It works like a natural conditioner.
You mentioned hairfall too, right? Stress and Pitta dosha can play a big role here. Brahmi oil is excellent for calming the mind and strengthening the hair. You can apply it to your scalp and even practice some stress-relief techniques like yoga or meditation, which would help overall.
And remember diet! Keep it cooling and hydrating, lots of greens, cucumbers, and try to reduce spicy and fried foods. Drink plenty of water, ‘cause hydrated from inside just shows on the hair, yeah?
But hey, if ever it feels too much or if it’s causing any pain or irritation, don’t hesitate to see a doc too. Ayurveda can support lots but sometimes you need a specialist for a serious issue.
