Knee pain for four months especially pain while walking and climbing stairs usually indicates strain inflammation or early joint wear and in Ayurveda this is commonly linked with Vata aggravation affecting the joint Rest and short term pain relief medicines like ibuprofen can reduce symptoms but for long term relief the focus should be on reducing inflammation improving lubrication and strengthening the joint You can start with local application of Mahanarayana taila massaging around the knee once or twice daily followed by mild heat fomentation which helps in reducing stiffness and improving circulation For internal support you can take Yograj guggulu two tablets twice daily after food and Maharasnadi kwath 15 ml twice daily Avoid excessive walking stair climbing and strain for some time but do not keep the joint completely immobile Gentle movements and simple knee strengthening exercises under guidance are important to maintain function Diet should include warm nourishing foods with good fats like ghee and avoid cold dry and processed foods which increase joint dryness

HELLO, Your symptoms- pain while walking and climbing stairs for 4 months- most closely resembles Sandhigata vata (osteoarthritis like condition) What’s happening in your knee: -lubrication inside the joint is reducing -cartilage shock absorber is thinning -Vata dosha increases-> causes –pain (especially on movement) –stiffness –cracking sounds (sometimes) Climbing stairs hurts more because it puts extra load on knee cartilage Treatment goals -reduce vata imbalance -improve joint lubrication -strengthen cartilage and ligaments -reduce inflammation and pain -prevent further degeneration Internal medications 1) Yogaraj guggulu= 2 tabs twice daily after meals with warm water for 3 months =reduces joint inflammation, improves mobility, classic for vata disorders 2) Dashmoola kashaya= 15ml + warm water twice daily before meals for 8 weeks =strong anti-inflammatory, reduces joint pain 3) Sahacharadi kashaya= alternative to dashmoola If stiffness is more =helps in lower limb pain and nerve related discomfort 4) Maharasnadi kashaya= 15ml+ equal water twice daily after meals for 3 months =works on muscles and joints 5) Gandha taila capsule= 1 cap twice daily after meals =strengthens bones and ligaments External treatment 1) Kottamchukadi taila -apply oil on knee -massage gently for 10-15 minutes -follow with hot water fomentation =reduces stiffness, improves circulation, relieves pain quickly 2) Muriveena oil -if there is tenderness or mild swelling =healing and anti inflammatory oil 3) abhanga + swedana if possible at a Panchakarma centre -oil massage -herbal bolus therapy Best for chronic cases like yours 4) Janu basti (highly recommended) -warm medicated oil retained over knee joint -done for 7-10 days =deep nourishment to cartilage -excellent for long term relief Home remedies -fenugreek powder= 1 tsp with warm water In morning -Turmeric milk at night -castor oil 1 tsp once a week at night with warm milk for mild detox Lifestyle and activity advice -use knee support -walk on flat surfaces only -keep joint warm Avoid -excess stair climbing -sitting cross legged -squatting Indian toilet -cold exposure, Ac, cold water Yoga and pranayam -straight leg raises -quadriceps strengthening - mild stretching Pranayam -Anulom Vilom= improves circulation -bhramari= reduces pain perception Do daily for 10-15 minutes Diet -warm, freshly cooked meals -ghee small amount daily -garlic, ginger -milk Avoid -cold drinks, ice cream -dry foods chips, biscuits -excess sour and fermented food -junk/processed food -junk/processed food Reason= these increase vata and inflammation Investigation -X-ray knee jonit -vitamin d levels - calcium levels Helps rule out -osteoarthritis stage -bone weakness Expected recovery timeline -2-3 weeks-> pain reduction begins -6-8 weeks-> better mobility -3 months-> significant improvement This is reversible/manageable condition if treated early. Ayurveda focuses not just on pain relief but joint restoration and long term protection The key is -consistency in medicines -daily oil application -diet + lifestyle correction Do follow Hope this might be helpful Thank you

Please Go for an x ray if the joint pain is really bothering you. Understanding the cause and the state of your bones and joints will guide you to seek better treatment. If the pain is only worsening on walking and activity it can be a degenerative condition or has a traumatic origin. In both cases ayurveda offers good pain relief medications with great rejuvenating properties. Use Km lepa choorna for external application as a thick paste over your aching points. Tab yogaraj guggulu 2 tablet powdered and mixed with rasnerandadi kashayam 15 ml taken twice daily before food, topped with 10 drops gandha taila is extremely pain relieving and rejuvenating in nature. If you have any complaints like abdominal bloating hardstools etc please let me know

I understand—knee pain for months, especially while walking and climbing stairs, can really affect daily life. Since it has been 4 months, we should treat this as a chronic vata disorder (sandhivata) with possible early degeneration or strain in the joint. The pain on movement suggests vata aggravation + dryness + joint weakness, and simply taking painkillers will not correct the root cause. 1)maharasnadi kwatham Dose: 15 ml + 15 ml warm water, twice daily after food Reduces pain, inflammation, and improves mobility 2)yogaraja guggulu Dose: 1 tablet twice daily after meals Best for vata-related joint pain and stiffness If pain is severe Add: sahacharadi tailam for massage

Namaste, Your symptoms — knee pain while walking and climbing stairs — indicate joint strain with vata involvement, commonly seen in early degenerative or inflammatory conditions. The focus should be on reducing pain, improving joint lubrication, and supporting mobility. Avoid excessive walking, stair climbing, and strain on the knee. Do not sit on the floor or in squatting position. Use support while walking if needed. Include warm, freshly cooked food with a small quantity of ghee and avoid cold, dry, and processed foods. Gentle strengthening exercises can be started gradually once pain reduces. Ayurvedic medicines with dose and timing: Yogaraja Guggulu – 1 tablet, twice daily after food Mahayogaraja Guggulu – 1 tablet, twice daily after food Dashmoolarishta – 15 ml with equal water, twice daily after food External application: Apply Mahanarayana Taila or Dhanwantharam Taila over the knee, followed by gentle massage and mild heat (fomentation) These are traditionally used to reduce pain, improve joint function, and support long-term joint health when combined with proper care. With consistent care, improvement can be seen over a few weeks. Consultation can help tailor this further to your needs.
