Hello, I sprained my wrist 1 wk ago. Had some swelling which has reduced greatly. I have mobility in all my fingers. At this point I'm experiencing some pain and a little swelling from my right thumb joint moving into my forearm about 6" I can move my wrist but not with great flexability yet. I have been taking Enzymes, Turmeric, Ginger and using Homeopathy. What suggestions do you have. Thank You

wrist sprain usually improves gradually within 2–6 weeks, and it is a good sign that your swelling has already reduced and finger movements are normal. In Ayurveda, this condition is considered mainly a Vata aggravation with local inflammation in the joints and soft tissues. Ayurvedic Care Suggestions Continue rest, but avoid complete immobility. Gentle wrist movement is helpful. Apply cold compress if swelling is still present; once swelling reduces further, switch to warm fomentation for pain and stiffness. Gentle massage with Mahanarayan Taila or Dhanwantharam Taila can help improve circulation, reduce pain, and support healing. Ayurvedic herbs like Turmeric, Shallaki (Boswellia), and Guggulu are beneficial for reducing inflammation and strengthening ligaments. Avoid lifting heavy objects or repeated wrist strain for at least another 1–2 weeks. Keep digestion strong and hydration adequate, as good healing in Ayurveda depends on balanced Agni (digestive fire). Helpful Supportive Measures Use a soft wrist support or brace during activity. Gentle hand and finger stretching can prevent stiffness. Include warm nourishing foods such as soups, cooked vegetables, sesame, and milk with turmeric.

यह कलाई/अंगूठे की चोट में वात बढ़ने और स्नायु/संधि में शोथ के कारण दर्द व जकड़न लग रही है। अभी 1–2 हफ्ते कलाई और अंगूठे को आराम दें, भारी चीज़ उठाना, मोड़ना, दबाव देना और ज्यादा पकड़ने वाले काम न करें। अंगूठे वाली wrist support/splint लगाएँ। सूजन हो तो दिन में 2–3 बार ठंडी सिकाई करें; सूजन कम होने के बाद हल्की गर्म सिकाई या हल्का तेल अभ्यंग कर सकते हैं, पर तेज मालिश न करें। हल्दी-शुंठी पाचन ठीक हो तो सीमित मात्रा में ले सकते हैं। अगर दर्द/सूजन बढ़े, सुन्नपन आए, पकड़ कमजोर हो या 5–7 दिन में सुधार न हो तो X-ray/orthopedic checkup ज़रूर कराएँ। —Dx: Abhighata-janya Manibandha/Angushtha Sandhi Shotha 1) Yograj Guggulu 1 tab BD after food × 15 days 2) Rasnadi Guggulu 1 tab BD after food × 15 days 3) Dashmool Kwath 20 ml + 40 ml warm water BD before food × 15 days 4) Mahanarayan Taila local gentle application OD 5) Cold fomentation 10–15 min BD/TDS if swelling present ----Advice: Thumb-spica splint, rest, avoid lifting/gripping/twisting.

In this wrist/thumb injury, pain and stiffness seem to be due to increased Vata along with swelling/inflammation in the ligaments and joint. —For the next 1–2 weeks, give rest to the wrist and thumb. Avoid lifting heavy objects, twisting, putting pressure, or doing activities that require strong gripping. Use a thumb-spica wrist support/splint. If swelling is present, apply cold fomentation 2–3 times daily. Once swelling reduces, mild warm fomentation or gentle oil application can be done, but avoid strong massage. Turmeric and dry ginger may be taken in limited quantity if digestion is good. If pain/swelling increases, numbness develops, grip becomes weak, or there is no improvement in 5–7 days, get an X-ray/orthopedic checkup done. —Dx: Abhighata-janya Manibandha/Angushtha Sandhi Shotha –Traumatic swelling/inflammation of the wrist/thumb joint -------rx- 1) Yograj Guggulu — 1 tablet twice daily after food for 15 days 2) Rasnadi Guggulu — 1 tablet twice daily after food for 15 days 3) Dashmool Kwath — 20 ml + 40 ml warm water, twice daily before food for 15 days 4) Mahanarayan Taila — gentle local application once daily —Cold fomentation — 10–15 minutes, twice/thrice daily if swelling is present —Advice: Use a thumb-spica splint, take rest, and avoid lifting, gripping, or twisting movements.
