Need Advice on Ayurvedic Medicine for Chronic Bone Pain - #1364

Anonymous

I've been dealing with severe bone pain for over a year now, especially in my knees and lower back. It gets worse during cold weather and after sitting for long periods. X-rays show mild arthritis, but I want to avoid heavy painkillers. I've tried physiotherapy, but it only provides temporary relief. I’m looking for a more holistic solution and am curious if there are specific Ayurvedic medicines or oils that can help strengthen bones and alleviate the pain. I’ve read about Ashwagandha and Shallaki, but I’m not sure if these are right for bone pain specifically. Are there better options for addressing deep, aching bone pain? How long would it take to notice any real effects with Ayurvedic treatment? Any dietary recommendations to support the healing process would also be appreciated.

In Ayurveda, bone pain, especially due to conditions like arthritis, is often linked to an imbalance in the Vata dosha, which governs movement and structure in the body. To address deep, aching bone pain, herbs like Shallaki (Boswellia serrata) and Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) are commonly used. Shallaki is known for its anti-inflammatory properties and can help reduce joint pain and stiffness, while Ashwagandha is a rejuvenating herb that strengthens tissues and improves overall vitality. Other beneficial herbs include Guggulu, which helps reduce inflammation and supports joint health, and Turmeric, which is known for its powerful anti-inflammatory effects. Ayurvedic oils like Mahanarayan oil or Dhanwantharam oil can also be used for local application through massage, which helps relieve pain and improve circulation. For long-term results, Ayurvedic treatment typically includes a combination of herbal remedies, local oil applications, and dietary modifications. To support bone health, Ayurveda recommends a diet rich in calcium and magnesium, such as dairy, leafy greens, sesame seeds, and nuts. It may take several weeks to months of consistent use to see noticeable improvements, as Ayurveda works holistically to restore balance and strengthen the body’s tissues.
