Is the Basti Procedure Safe for Treating Chronic Lower Back Pain and Constipation - #1421
I’ve been dealing with chronic lower back pain and severe constipation for almost a year now. My doctor suspects it might be related to an imbalanced Vata dosha. I’ve tried painkillers, fiber supplements, and even physical therapy, but the relief is always short-lived. I recently came across the Basti procedure as part of Panchakarma, and it’s mentioned as a key therapy for balancing Vata and cleansing the colon. I’m curious but also a bit worried – how exactly is the Basti procedure done? Is it similar to a regular enema, or does it involve something different? Also, is it painful or uncomfortable? I read that there are different types like oil Basti (Anuvasana) and herbal decoction Basti (Niruha) – how do I know which one is right for me?
