Is there an Ayurvedic treatment for fistula in ano, and how can I confirm my diagnosis? - #16740

Anonymously

A few weeks ago, I started feeling pain near my anus, especially when sitting or walking. At first, I thought it was just a pimple or hemorrhoid, but then I noticed occasional pus and a weird, foul smell. It got worse, and now there's a small opening near my anal region that sometimes leaks fluid. I searched online and found out about fistula in ano real images, and honestly, what I saw scared me. My symptoms look similar to what I saw in those fistula in ano real images, but I'm not sure if it's the same thing. I haven't gone to a doctor yet because I'm embarrassed, but I want to understand whether this is really fistula in ano or something else. I read that some people need surgery for it, but I want to avoid that if possible. Are there Ayurvedic treatments that can help heal fistula in ano without surgery? I saw some mentions of Kshar Sutra therapy and herbal remedies—do these really work? Also, what dietary changes should I make? I've been eating a lot of spicy and oily food, and I don't know if that makes fistula in ano worse. Should I completely stop eating certain things? Are there any Ayurvedic oils or pastes that can be applied externally? And is there a way to prevent it from coming back after treatment? I really want to treat this naturally, but I'm nervous about how bad it might get. If I delay treatment, will it cause more complications? What’s the best Ayurvedic approach to heal this properly?

In Ayurveda, a fistula in ano is often considered a manifestation of an imbalance in Pitta and Vata doshas, particularly related to digestive issues and the accumulation of toxins (ama). To treat this naturally, Kshar Sutra therapy is a highly effective treatment, where a medicated thread is used to drain the infection and promote healing, balancing the doshas. Additionally, herbal remedies like Triphala, turmeric, and neem have strong anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties that can help manage infection and promote tissue healing. Dietary changes are crucial—avoiding spicy, oily, and acidic foods will reduce Pitta aggravation, and focusing on a light, cooling, and easily digestible diet will help reduce internal heat and support digestion. External applications of herbal pastes such as neem and turmeric or Ayurvedic oils like Tarpana oil can help soothe and heal the area. It is important to address the condition early to prevent further complications. Regular use of these remedies, along with a balanced diet and lifestyle, can prevent recurrence. However, a consult with an Ayurvedic practitioner would be ideal for a tailored plan.
