Struggling with arthritis pain for the past 3 years, mostly in my knees. The stiffness is the worst in the mornings, and it feels like I’m walking on glass when I get out of bed. I’ve tried different creams and over-the-counter painkillers, but they only give temporary relief. They’re not just random marketing gimmicks, they’ve been around for ages and have some good stuff going for them. Mahanarayan oil is traditionally used for vata-related issues like stiff joints and muscle pain. It’s got herbs like Ashwagandha, Bala that are known to soothe and strengthen. Dhanwantharam oil, on the other hand, is more about rejuvenation and easing pain with a bit of a warmth - quite nice for a stiff knee.

So do they really work? They can absolutely help, but it’s not magic. You’d need to use them regularly, like applying once or twice a day consistently to see any real difference. Massage the oil gently onto the painful areas. Ideally, warm the oil a bit before applying - not too hot! - helps it penetrate better. Give it a good 10-15 mins if you can. Then, after letting it sit for a bit, you can wash it off if it’s greasy or leaves a stain.

Avoiding steroids is understandable. Sticking with natural methods can benefit long term. But remember, combining approaches can be best. My goal is to help women understand their symptoms early and explain how Ayurveda can help gently but properly, whether it’s hormonal stuff or pain or cycle issues. I use classic Ayurvedic concepts like dosha analysis, ritucharya, n yoni vyapad chikitsa wherever it fits, but sometimes modern lifestyle really needs to be factored in too. Like if someone working night shift, no point telling them to wake up at 5am and do abhyanga daily—it won’t work. I’m practical about it. Anyway, I try my best to create a space where women feel heard. Lot of them said nobody actually explained them what’s going on before. And that’s like the saddest part.
