Doctors’ responses

Managing IBD and specifically Crohn's Disease through Ayurveda involves a nuanced approach, taking your surgery and current treatments into account. Since you've had a large intestine resection and fistula, alongside being on biological injections, it's crucial to proceed with caution and under a healthcare provider's supervision. Let's start with balancing your Vata dosha, primarily responsible for anxiety and the nervous system. For chronic loose motions, you need to support your digestive Agni, which is kind of a digestive fire. Use a teaspoon of roasted fennel seeds after meals; this can really help with digestion and reduce loose motions. Avoid foods that are too spicy, oily or heavy to digest. Opt for easy-to-digest meals like warm khichdi made with moong dal and rice, especially when your digestion feels weak. Your nervousness and anxiety might make you prone to flighty thoughts. Consider daily practice of yoga asanas like gentle Surya Namaskar and Pranayama, especially Anulom Vilom and Bhramari. These not only calm the mind but also regulate Vata. Ashwagandha could be beneficial, but given your complex condition, consult with an Ayurvedic practitioner before starting any new supplements. Try a warm glass of milk with a pinch of turmeric at night; it’s simple but quite soothing. Don’t ignore your fistula. Ayurvedic panchakarma therapies, specifically under medical guidance, might offer support, but never replace your current medical treatments. Trust your doctors; they're important for your current stage. Chamomile or Brahmi teas are great too; they can soothe the anxiety. Maybe try a few moments of meditation daily; it doesn't have to be long—just something to ground you. Your body has been through much, so small steps and be patient with yourself.

I have gained comprehensive clinical experience through my internship and professional duties, which has laid a strong foundation for my medical practice. During my internship, I worked extensively across multiple departments, including casualty, general medicine, general surgery, and obstetrics & gynecology at the Government District Hospital, Gadag. This exposure allowed me to handle a variety of acute and chronic cases, sharpen my clinical assessment skills, and actively participate in patient management under the guidance of senior medical professionals. Following this, I served as a duty doctor at AYUSH Hospital, Gadag Betgeri, where I applied my Ayurvedic knowledge in a clinical setting and contributed to patient care in both outpatient and inpatient departments. I successfully completed 366 days of rigorous internship training at DGM Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital, Gadag, where I was involved in patient evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment planning under supervision. My time there allowed me to integrate classical Ayurvedic principles with practical patient care while developing a keen understanding of hospital operations and multidisciplinary collaboration. These experiences have enhanced my ability to handle diverse medical conditions confidently while maintaining a patient-centered approach. I am dedicated to continuing my journey as an Ayurvedic practitioner with the same passion and commitment, focusing on delivering quality, evidence-based, and holistic healthcare.
