can we eat anjeer in pregnancy - #24244

Claire

I am really confused about something. I’m currently pregnant, about halfway through, and I’ve been hearing a lot about anjeer and its health benefits. A friend told me it’s super nutritious and a great source of calcium and fiber, which sounds amazing, right? But then, I read some articles that made me wonder if it’s safe. Can we eat anjeer in pregnancy? I mean, I’ve been craving sweets a lot lately, especially since I’m trying to keep my energy up and avoid those unhealthy snacks! 😅 I had a few dried anjeer bites yesterday, but then felt a little uneasy after. Is that normal? I just really want to make sure I’m putting the right stuff into my body. Can we eat anjeer in pregnancy, or should I be wary? Also, if it is good, what’s the best way to consume it? Should I stick with dried anjeer or fresh ones? Any advice would be super helpful! Thanks!

Yes, you can eat anjeer (figs) during pregnancy. In Ayurveda, figs are considered quite beneficial, having a sweet taste and cool potency which is ideal during pregnancy. They are rich in important nutrients like calcium and fiber, helping with growth of the baby’s bones and supporting a healthy digestion. Furthermore, they help balance Vata dosha, which is essential for a stable, nurturing environment for your baby. However, moderation is key. Consuming too many can lead to digestive issues like bloating or loose stools, which might be why you felt uneasy after having them yesterday. A few pieces a day should be enough to glean their benefits without overdoing it. Dried anjeer are more concentrated in nutrients and are often more convenient. If they're too sweet, soak them overnight to make them easier to digest. Fresh figs, when available, can also be a wonderful option full of juicy goodness and easier on the palate. Just be sure to wash them thoroughly. As for the craving for sweets, anjeer can satisfy your sweet tooth while providing essential nutrients but pairing them with some nuts like almonds or walnuts can balance the sweetness and provide protein and healthy fats, supporting lasting energy levels. Always listen to your body, it is important to pay attention to how your body reacts. If you continuously experience discomfort, consult an Ayurvedic practitioner or healthcare provider to tailor dietary choices to your unique pregnancy needs. Eating a varied and balanced diet, along with proper rest and activity, generally keeps mother and baby in good health.
