Giddiness as you describe, especially triggered in large spaces, can be quite unsettling and could be associated with an imbalance in the Vata dosha, which governs movement and space in the body. Managing this requires a holistic approach through diet, lifestyle, and specific Ayurvedic practices.

Dietary Recommendations: Focus on grounding and nourishing foods. Include warm, cooked meals in your diet. Minimize or avoid cold, dry, and rough foods, reducing raw salads in favor of soups and stews. Integrate sweet, sour, and salty tastes that can help pacify Vata. Favor foods like rice, whole grains, avocados, and root vegetables. Hydration with warm water or herbal teas like ginger or licorice can also be beneficial.

Lifestyle Adjustments: Establish regular routines in your day-to-day schedule. Ensure that you eat at the same times daily, sleep, and exercise consistently. Incorporating a soothing yoga practice is beneficial, focusing on poses that help ground you, like Tadasana (Mountain Pose) and Shavasana (Corpse Pose).

Ayurvedic Therapies: Self-massage (Abhyanga) with warm sesame or almond oil before a bath can calm Vata imbalances when practiced regularly. Include Nasya (nasal oil therapy) using a few drops of warm ghee or sesame oil to promote equilibrium and stability in your head and senses.

Herbal Recommendations: Ashwagandha might help in stabilizing and calming your system. Starting with half a teaspoon of its powder in warm milk or water before bed can aid relaxation and quality sleep.

If these symptoms persist despite these adjustments, it is important that you see specifically a professional healthcare provider to rule out other medical conditions, like those related to your neck, inner ear, or nervous system. Immediate medical advice should be sought if you experience severe symptoms or if the giddiness significantly impacts your daily functioning.

Giddiness when standing and sitting, particularly in large spaces, may often be linked to an imbalance in Vata dosha, which governs movement and sensations within the body. Issues like these can sometimes be associated with an underlying issue in the nervous system, a Vata imbalance, or perhaps even ear-related physical imbalances. Given how long this has persisted, it’s important to consider both immediate measures and longer-term adjustments for balance.

First, let’s address some immediate practices you can introduce. Try incorporating ginger and honey in warm water as they help stabilize Vata. You could drink this mixture, particularly during episodes of giddiness, to help calm your system. Another potential remedy is to carry and sniff a few drops of sesame oil when entering large spaces. This may sound unusual, but sesame oil is grounding and should help balance Vata energy.

Now, let’s discuss some lifestyle habits for long-term relief. Make sure to maintain a regular eating schedule with warm, soothing foods. Avoid cold, raw, or excessively caffeinated foods, as these can provoke Vata. Gentle yoga practices, particularly focusing on grounding poses like Tadasana or Vrikshasana, are beneficial. Avoid rapid movements and take your time when transitioning from sitting to standing.

If such preventative methods aren’t producing results over time, it’s wise to consult a healthcare professional for a more comprehensive evaluation. There could be additional factors contributing to your experience that an in-person consultation can better address. Be sure to monitor your condition closely and seek further guidance if your symptoms persist or worsen.
