Hello Ujwala, I can understand your concern about preparing herbal based oil, soap for a 7-year-old child,so dont worry we are here to help you out😊

Here are some safe homemade Ayurvedic preparations you can use for your daughter 👇

✅AYURVEDIC BATH POWDER
(Ubtan / Snana Churna)

👉Ingredients (all fine powders): Besan (Gram flour) – 4 tbsp Multani mitti – 2 tbsp Haldi (wild turmeric / kasturi manjal) – ½ tsp Sandalwood powder – 1 tsp Orange peel powder – 1 tsp Rose petal powder – 1 tsp

👉Preparation & Use- Mix all powders well and store in a glass jar. At bath time, mix 2 tbsp of this powder with milk or rose water to make a paste.

👉Apply gently over the body and face, leave for 5 minutes, then wash off with lukewarm water. ➡️ Use 3–4 times a week. This helps cleanse, soften, and naturally brighten the skin.

✅AYUVEDIC OIL

👉Ingredients- Coconut oil – 100 ml Almond oil – 50 ml Kumkumadi taila – 10 ml (optional, for radiance) 1 pinch turmeric powder or 5–6 saffron strands

👉Preparation & Use

Warm the oil mixture lightly and let it cool. Store in a clean glass bottle.

Massage gently over face and body 15–20 minutes before bath. ➡️ Use daily for best results. It improves skin tone, softness, and prevents dryness.

✅ Mild Herbal Soap (if making at home)

Base: Pure glycerin or natural coconut oil soap base. Add: Turmeric extract or powder (a pinch) Aloe vera gel – 1 tsp Sandalwood or rose essential oil – few drops

Method:

Melt soap base on low flame, mix ingredients, pour into moulds, and cool. ➡️ This soap is gentle, nourishing, and free from harsh chemicals.

Wishing your son a good health😊

Warm Regards Dr Snehal Vidhate

HELLO UJWALA,

It’s very important to start by saying ; skin whitening is not recommended for children, especially 7 yearly. A child’s skin is still developing, and using whitening products whether ayurvedic or chemical - can damage the ski barrier, cause allergic reactions or disrupts normal pigmentation

If your goal is to maintain healthy, glowing skin, Ayurveda offers gentle, natural care that supports skin health rather than altering color

These are mild, nourishing options that help improve complexion naturally without harmful whitening

1) BATH OILS ( pre bath applications) Purpose= moisturize and protect skin

KUMKUMADI TAILA (diluted)= mix 1-2 drops with coconut or almond oil before applying NALPAMRADI TAILA= gentle herbal oil for improving skin tone

METHOD -apply lightly 10-15 min before bath -avoid the face if any irritation or acne is present

2) BATH POWDERS PURPOSE= gentle cleansing, removes dirt, supports natural glow

INGREDIENTS -green gram flour -sandalwood powder -turemric very small pinch- 1 part per 20 parts of base -rose petals or powder -oats or rice flour for softness

METHOD -mix with milk or plain water into a paste -apply over skin, massage gently, rinse off with lukewarm water -avoid eyes and mouth

3) AYURVEDIC SOAPS (mild, sulphate free) choose soaps meant for children or sensitive skin -Medimix Ayurvedic kids soap -Himalaya gentle baby soap -Forest essential baby soap Avoid soaps claiming “skin whitening” or “fairness”- these may contain harsh herbs or bleaching agents

4) POST BATH MOISTURIZERS After bath apply, -pure coconut oil -almond oil - shea butter or ghee a tiny amount

These keep the skin soft ad glowing naturally

AVOID -turmeric in large quantity- can stain or irritate -lemon juice, baking soda, or vinegar can burn skin -any product labeled fairness whitening or lightening

HEALTHY SKIN FROM WITHIN Encourage -balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and water -adequate sleep and play - sun protection (hat, light clothing- not bleaching creams)

DO FOLLOW

HOPE THIS MIGHT BE HELPFUL

THANK YOU

DR. MAITRI ACHARYA

When considering skin care for a 7-year-old, it’s crucial to be cautious and gentle. In Ayurveda, we emphasize enhancing natural beauty while ensuring safety, especially for children whose skin is more sensitive. For skin brightening purposes, focus on nourishing and maintaining skin health rather than aiming for “whitening”. Here is a brief overview of some practices:

Ayurvedic Soap: To craft a gentle soap, mix gram flour (besan) with a small amount of turmeric (kinda about a pinch per soap batch due to its strong staining tendency) and sandalwood powder. Bind these ingredients using a natural binder like aloe vera gel. Use this soap once a day as it is mild and cleansing.

Ayurvedic Oils: Consider preparing a soothing oil blend. Cold-pressed coconut oil serves as a great base. You can infuse it with small amounts of saffron and turmeric by gently heating the oil and adding a pinch, letting it cool, and allowing it to rest for a week before use. Apply lightly on the skin before bath time.

Herbal Bath Powders: Bath powders can be both cleansing and revitalizing. Mix green gram powder with fennel seed powder and Neem leaves powder. This mixture can be used instead of soap. Just wet the skin, gently apply the powder and rinse it off.

Diet and Lifestyle: Encourage the intake of hydrating fruits like watermelon and papaya. Ensure the child drinks plenty of water to keep the skin hydrated. Avoid processed foods that can lead to imbalance.

Test New Products: Always do a patch test before applying any new herbal formulation fully, especially on delicate skin.

While these recommendations are designed to be safe, it’s advisable to consult with a local Ayurvedic practitioner to tailor these general methods specifically for your child’s skin type. Adjustments might be necessary to suit her individual prakriti – her unique Ayurvedic constitution.

When considering skin care for a young one like a 7-year-old girl, it’s crucial to focus on gentle, nourishing formulations. In the context of Siddha-Ayurveda, we typically focus more on enhancing natural skin health rather than whitening. Whitening products can sometimes disrupt the natural balance. However, if the goal is to support a healthy skin complexion, here are a few traditional preparations you might consider:

For an Ayurvedic soap: Use natural base ingredients like besan (chickpea flour) or multani mitti (fuller’s earth) combined with turmeric and sandalwood powder. These ingredients help maintain clear skin while supporting a healthy glow. Mix the powders with water to make a paste, then let it dry into a soap-like consistency.

When preparing oils, a mixture using coconut oil infused with turmeric and a few drops of saffron oil can be beneficial. Coconut oil supports hydration, while turmeric has anti-inflammatory qualities. Gently heat the oil and turmeric mixture, let it cool, then strain and store in a dark bottle. Apply a small amount to the skin after a bath.

For bath powders, you might consider a blend of green gram powder, dried orange peel powder, and some neem powder to ensure both cleansing and nourishing effects. Mix a small amount with water to form a paste, use as a bath scrub, then rinse thoroughly.

Remember, each individual’s skin may react differently, especially in children. Begin with patch tests for each preparation before regular use. Encouraging internal balance is equally important, emphasizing a diet rich in fruits, vegetables and plenty of water. Prioritize overall health rather than external appearance changes. Avoid harsh or chemical products on young skin.
