Nothing is better than exercise and control on carbohydrate intake for insulin resistance…

If possible do intermittent fasting. If not donot take carbohydrates for snacking. You can have a raw guava, jamun, green tea, black coffee, raw tomato for snacking.

Insulin resistance can often be assisted by balancing the dosha and strengthening the digestive system. According to Ayurvedic principles, it’s crucial to enhance Agni (digestive fire) and detoxify Ama (toxins) in the body. For this, herbs like Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia) are commendable. Taking about half a teaspoon of Guduchi powder with warm water in the morning helps in balancing blood sugar levels. Moreover, Ayurveda appreciates the use of fenugreek seeds. Soak a tablespoon of fenugreek overnight and consume the water and seeds next morning on an empty stomach. Its vipaka (post-digestive effect) works towards improving the metabolic process.

Dietary choices should focus on freshly prepared, warm meals that support the appetite. Favor whole grains like wheat and barley, while reducing refined sugars and processed foods. Kapha-reducing foods can be quite effective; this includes bitter gourd which is believed to be particularly beneficial due to its Pitta enhancing and Kapha pacifying properties. Including spices like turmeric and cinnamon in your meals can also provide significant support.

For lifestyle modifications, regular physical activity like yoga or brisk walking for at least 30 minutes daily can aid in metabolism and overall wellness. Implement a daily routine that minimizes stress through practices like meditation and deep breathing—to calm the mind and nurture healthy insulin function.

As for cardamom, both green and black varieties have distinct Ayurvedic properties. However, green cardamom (Elettaria cardamomum) is usually preferable for its stimulating impact on digestion and metabolism due to its Madhura (sweet) and Tikta (bitter) rasas, making it conducive for balancing Kapha and Vata doshas commonly associated with insulin resistance. You might want to try adding a pinch of green cardamom powder to herbal teas or meals.

Ensure you consult a local Ayurvedic practitioner or healthcare professional to personalize any regimen to your unique Prakriti and condition, especially if you’re already on medication or treatment.
