🌿 1. Steam Inhalation (Very Important) *Just plain water steam *2–3 minutes only *Once or twice daily when she has blocked nose *Keep her on your lap or close to you for safety This helps clear mucus slowly and naturally. 🌸 2. Warm Mustard Oil Massage (Nasal & Chest Relief) * Warm 1 tsp mustard oil with a pinch of ajwain (carom seeds)

Massage: Chest Back Soles of feet Do this night before sleep Avoid putting oil inside nose

This reduces congestion and night-time blockage a lot.

🍯 3. Honey + Tulsi:

For her age (3 years), it’s safe. *1 tsp honey *Crush 1–2 small tulsi leaves juice into it *Give once daily for 5–7 days (This reduces sneezing, running nose, throat irritation.)

4. Ajwain Potli (Excellent for blocked nose) *Take 1 tbsp ajwain *Dry roast lightly *Put in a cloth and tie *Keep near her pillow OR hold near her nose (lightly) for her to inhale

This decongests naturally.

🥣 5. Food Suggestions 1.Warm soups (dal soup, vegetable soup) 2.Avoid cold milk or chilled items 3.Give warm water sips 4.Add tiny pinch of turmeric + black pepper to milk (optional)

🌿 Mild Ayurveda Medicine (child safe) If symptoms repeat very often: ⭐ Sitopaladi Churna 1/4 tsp with 1 tsp honey Once daily after food For 7–10 days (Very safe for kids, reduces cold & sneezing)

⭐ Anu Tailam (for prevention) 1 drop in each nostril Only 3–4 times a week, not daily Best when used after steam

(Do NOT use if she has fever at that time.)

💛 When to be cautious? Seek pediatric advice if: 1.High fever 2.Breathing difficulty 3.Not eating/drinking normally 4.Symptoms lasting more than 10–12 days continuously

Warm regards, Dr.Sumi

Hello I‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ understand your concern but don’t worry we are here to help you out 😊

✅ AYURVEDIC UNDERSTANDING 👉Why does this keep happening? Repeated colds are typical for this age and are usually caused by: Kapha dominance in childhood Weak Agni (digestion) Cold/watery foods Sudden weather changes Dust allergy

This results in recurrent allergic rhinitis or upper-respiratory congestion. It’s absolutely normal — and very controllable with home remedies.

✅ SAFE HOME REMEDIES (Perfect for 3-Year-Olds)

✅Warm Mustard Massage Do this twice daily: Warm 1 tsp mustard oil Apply on: Nose bridge Chest Neck Soles of feet It helps alleviate symptoms of cold, cough, and congestion.

✅ Tulsi + Ajwain Steam (Very Gentle) Only for 3–4 minutes: Put the hot water in a bowl Add 2–3 tulsi leaves + ½ tsp ajwain Heat the water and let the steam come out Child should be near the bowl to inhale the steam but not very close

It helps open the nasal passages without any harm.

✅Ajwain Potli (Best Remedy for Children) Dry roast 2 tbsp ajwain Wrap in a cotton cloth Make a hot potli Press gently on chest, back & feet

This instantaneously alleviates the feeling of stuffiness.

✅Warm Water with Honey (After 1 year of age – safe) Give once daily: 1 cup warm water ½ tsp honey This is a very natural way to clear mucus.

✅ Haldi Milk (Golden Milk)

At night: 1 cup warm milk ¼ tsp turmeric A pinch of black pepper

Helping the body to build immunity and preventing the cold to come again.

✅ AYURVEDIC TREATMENT (Safe for 3-year-old)

1 Sitopaladi Churna + Honey Give ¼ teaspoon along with ½ teaspoon honey Once a day for 2–3 weeks.

2 Anu Taila (Very mild use)

For 3-year-olds - 2 drops on cotton, apply around nostrils, NOT inside. Helps reduce nasal blockage.

❌Avoid These Foods (Very Important)

These raise Kapha and related cold symptoms: Curd Banana (nighttime) Cold water / fridge foods Biscuits, bakery items Ice creams Too much milk without turmeric

✅Things to Add Homemade warm soups Moong dal khichdi Desi ghee Dry fruits (2–3 pieces) Remove dust from the ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌room

Wishing your daughter a good health😊

Warm Regards Dr Snehal Vidhate

Daily Must-Do (In Morning) Steam with 2 drops eucalyptus oil OR plain hot water → 5 min under towel

HELLO,

Your 3 year old daughter is experiencing frequent nasal congestion, runny nose, and sneezing for more than 6 months. In children, this is extremely common because

-CHILDREN NATURALLY PRODUCE MORE MUCUS Ayurveda describes early childhood as kapha dominant age, meaning their body is naturally moist, heavy, and mucus forming

-IMMATURE IMMUNITY Her immune system is still developing, so even minor triggers (dust, weather change, cold foods) cause congestion

-UNDERDEVELOPED NASAL PASSAGES Yound children have smaller nasal passages, so they get blocked easily

-SENSITIVE RESPIRATORYY SYSTEM This makes them prone to repeated colds and allergies

-FREQUENT EXPOSURE Kids touch everything, share toys, put hands in mouth- leading to repeated infections

WHY IT KEEPS COMING BACK (AYURVEDIC VIEW) According to Ayurveda, three main factors cause repeated nasal congestion

1) KAPHA IMBALANCE -too much cold, heavy, mucus forming elements in the body

2) WEAK DIGESTIVE POWER -If digestion is weak , undigested food circulates and increases mucus production

3) ENVIRONMENTAL TRIGGERS -Dust, cold air, cold foods, weather changes, day-sleep, damp rooms

4) IMMATURE IMMUNE SYSTEM -Children’s immunity essence is still developing

TREATMENT GOALS -reduce congestion -improve immunity -strengthen digestion -remove accumulated kapha -avoid triggers -strengthen nasal passages and lungs

INTERNAL MEDICATIONS

1) SHITOPALADI CHURNA= 1/4 tsp once daily after meals with honey for 6 weeks =reduces sneezing, decreases throat irritation, strengthens lungs, reduces mucus

2) CHYAWANPRASHA (child friendly immunity booster)= 1/2 tsp daily long term 3 months minimum = builds immuity, reduces frequency of colds, supportslung development

3) DRAKSHADI KASHAYAM= 5ml mixed with 10 ml water once daily after lunch for 4 weeks =balances kapha, improves digestion, mild effect on cough and cold

EXTERNALLY

1) AJWAIN + SALT WARM COMPRESS -dry roast 1 tbsp ajwain + 1 tbsp rock salt -put in cloth and make a warm potali -apply on chest , back, feet, and around nose =opes blocked nose naturally, reduces mucus, clears chest

2) STEAM THERAPY= not direct inhalation -keep a bowl of hot water in the room -let her breathe warm air from a distance =loose thick mucus, helps breathing

3) WARM OIL CHEST MASSAGE -use warm mustard oil + salt in it =massage chest, back, and feet at night before sleep =opens channels, enhances circulation, reduces kapha

DIET -warm soups -light khichdi -dal soup -warm water -steamed veggies -ghee 1/2 tsp daily -small pinch of dry ginger in milk or food -turmeric milk1/2 cup oncedaily -tulsi + honey once daily

AVOID -cold milk -ice cream -yogurt/curd -bananas, especially at night -bakery food- cakes, biscuits -cold drinks -excesssweets

HOME REMEDIES -TURMERIC MILK -tulsi honey mix -ajwain podali -ginger in small amount -light food during illness

Recurrent colds at this age are common and usually not dangerous Ayurveda helps by strengthening the child’s immunity rather than suppressing symptoms Consistency is more important than giving strong mediicnes Warm environment + light diet + Kapha reducing home remedies work wonders Most children outgrow this tendency by age 5-6

DO FOLLOW

HOPE THIS MIGHT BE HELPFUL

THANK YOU

For your 3-year-old daughter’s frequent nasal congestion, there are some Ayurvedic home remedies that you might find helpful. These remedies are rooted in balancing the doshas, clearing any mucous buildup, and bolstering the immune system. Let’s get into them:

Firstly, consider a simple yet effective herbal remedy — Tulsi (Holy basil) and ginger. Tulsi has antimicrobial properties which are beneficial in treating respiratory issues. You can make a lukewarm tea by steeping a few Tulsi leaves and a small piece of ginger in a cup of water. Once ready, add a touch of honey for taste. Offer her a teaspoon or two of this warm tea, two times a day. Be cautious of not using hot beverages with children.

Keep the environment where she sleeps and plays as free as possible from allergens. Daily steam inhalation can be beneficial as well – just fill a bowl with hot water and have your daughter sit nearby to inhale the steam. Ensure safety and supervise to prevent any accidents. You might want to add a couple of eucalyptus oil drops for added benefit, but make sure it’s at safe distance from her face.

Another remedy is Nasya therapy with Anu Tailam. A tiny drop of warm ghee or sesame oil can be placed in each nostril in the morning. This can help to lubricate the nasal passages and reduce congestion, however, ensure you’re gentle and cautious with this approach.

Incorporate more warm, cooked meals in her diet — soups enriched with turmeric and cumin are excellent. These spices help in boosting agni, and digestion, as well as aiding in removing excess Kapha, which is responsible for mucus production. Increase hydration with warm water throughout the day as well.

It’s important to ensure she is adequately dressed to protect from sudden climatic changes. Keeping her head warm and chest covered is essential, especially in cooler environments. If symptoms persist, or if at any point you notice difficulty in breathing or any other concerning symptoms, do consult a pediatrician. This ensures she receives the right care should any complications arise.
