hello !

Your lips are extremely sensitive right now, and that’s why even simple things like lip balms, oils, ghee, or spicy food are causing burning, blisters, cracking, and bleeding. This means the inner heat (Pitta) and dryness (Vata) in your body are very high, and digestion is irritated. When this happens, the lips lose their natural healing ability and keep peeling again and again.

The good news is: exfoliative cheilitis can improve with the right internal treatment and very gentle external care, even when you can’t tolerate oils. Healing will be gradual but absolutely possible.

1. Ama Pachana (first 7 days) Amapachana Vati – 2 tablets twice daily after food for 7 days.

2. Internal medicines (from Day 8 onwards – for 6–8 weeks) Guduchi Satva – 1 teaspoon with warm water in the morning. Avipattikar Churna – ½ teaspoon after meals with warm water. Saraswata Churna – 1 teaspoon with warm water at night. Manjishta Ghan Vati – 1 tablet twice daily after food. Yashtimadhu (Licorice) tablets – 1 tablet twice daily.

3. External application (oil-free) Yashtimadhu powder + little boiled cooled water – apply as thin paste 1–2 times/day. Fresh aloe vera gel – apply thin layer for 10 minutes once daily.

4. Diet (very important for healing) Avoid chilli, spicy curries, tomatoes, pickles, vinegar, lemons, oranges. Avoid fried foods, bakery items, chips. Avoid tea/coffee more than once a day. Eat soft, warm meals: dal, rice, moong khichdi, ridge gourd, bottle gourd, cooked vegetables. Drink warm water only. No cold drinks.

5. Investigations To rule out deeper causes: Vitamin B12 Vitamin B2 (riboflavin) Vitamin D Iron profile Thyroid profile Fasting blood sugar

Allergy panel (if symptoms worsen with certain foods) Deficiencies often cause peeling and slow healing of lips.

Your condition is painful and emotionally draining, but it is treatable. You have severe dryness and heat, so oils and balms are too strong for your lips right now. Once internal heat reduces and the lips regain strength, you will slowly tolerate external moisture again. Healing will happen step by step, and you will be able to eat normally again. Whenever you need guidance, I’m here to support you.

Warm regards, Dr. Karthika

HELLO,

Exfoliative chelitis means your lips are constantly inflamed, leadig to -repeated peeling - cracks - bleeding -burning -blisters with spicy foods -intolerance to oils or lip balms

This happens when the skin barrier of the lips becomes weak, and the immune system becomes hypersensitive

WHY IT HAPPENS Ayurveda looks at this through three doshas- vata, pitta, kapha Your symptoms indicate:-

PITTA AGGRAVATION Because -burning sensation -blisters after spicy foods -redness, swelling -cannot tolerate heat or oils -bleeds easily Pitta governs hear, inflammation, and metabolism. when aggravated-> it inflames soft tissues like lips

VATA AGGRAVATION Your symptoms :- -dryness -cracking -difficulty opening mouth -peeling Vata dries tissues and makes them fragile

OJAS WEAKNESS Chronic duration (2 years) usually indicates:- -low immunity -high sensitivity -delayed healing -reaction to many products So your condition= pitta + vata imbalance + reduced Ojas

TREATMENT GOALS

SHORT TERM GOALS -reduce burning and inflammation -stop peeling and cracking -strengthen lip barrier -reduce sensitivity to food

MEDIUM TERM GOALS -heal deeper tissues -restore natural moiture -improve digestive and liver function

LONG TERM GOALS -prevent relapse -improve immunity -make lips tolerant to weather, food, and products again

TREATMENT PLAN

EXTERNAL TREATMENT

1) ALOE VERA GEL (pure, non-fragrance) DOSE= apply thin layer 1-2 times daily =extremely cooling, reduces pitta inflammation, heals racks

2) LICORICE + ROSE WATER COOLING PASTE =licorice powder= 1/2 tsp, rice flour= 1/2tsp. rose water= cough to make consistency Apply for 10-15 min-> wash gently =licorrice heal mucosa, rose water cools pitta, rice flour absorbs heat

3) CUCUMBER JUICE COMPRESS take cotton-> dip in cool cucumber juice-> place on lips 10 min =reduces burning, hydrates without oil, natural pitta pacifier

4) MANJISTHA + ROSE WATER PASTE =anti inflammatory , blood purifier, excellent for pitta condition

AVOID -petroleum jelly -ghee or oils until pitta is reduced -turmeric paste -strong herbal ointments these worsen heat

INTERNAL SUPPORT

1) GUDUCHI GHAN VATI= 2 tabs twice daily after meals for 6 weeks =strong anti inflammatory , reduces pitta heat, boosts immunity

2) AMLA CAPSULE= 1 cap in morning for 12 weeks =natural vitamin c, repairs tissue, strengthens immunity

3) YASHTIMADHU TABLETS= 1 tab twice daily with milk for 4 weeks =soothes mucosa, heals cracks, reduces sensitivity

4) AVIPATTIKAR CHURNA= 1/2 tsp with warm water after meals for 6 weeks =clears excess pitta from stomach and liver, reduces mouth inflammation, controls burning with spicy foods

5) TRIPHALA CHURNA= 1 tsp with warm water at bedtime = gentle detox, supports gut health, balances vata and pitta

DIET -COOLING AND HEALING DRINKS= rice, wheat chapati, oats, barley -COOLING VEGETABLES= bottle gourd, ash gourd, cucumber, pumpkin, carrot, sweet potato, leafy greens except spinach (slightly heating) -PROTEINS= moong dal, massor dal, panner, buttermilk -FRUITS= watermelon, pear, apple, pomegranate, banana -LIQUIDS= coconut water, coriander seed water, fennel seed water

AVOID -all chillies -all masala heavy curries -sour foods (citrus, tomato, tamarind) -pickles, vinegar, fermented foods -fried foods -coffee, tea, alcohol -chocolate -very salty snacks -very hot foods These directly aggravate pitta-> blisters, burning

LIFESTYLE CHANGES -use a humidifier at night -drink water often -keep food moderate in temperature -rest well for healing of Ojas

AVOID -sun exposure (very important) -licking lips -peeling skin -talking excessively during flare ups -hot showers on face -stress and late nights increase pitta and vata

YOGA (cooling) -shavsana -supta baddha konasana -child’s pose -forward bends -gentle stretches

AVOID -hot yoga -intense flow -breathing through mouth

PRANAYAM -Sheetali= extremely cooling for pitta do 5-10 breaths daily -Sheetkari -Nadi sodhana= balances vata and pita, reduces stress related flare ups

HOME REMEDIES -cool rose water dabs= soak cotton-> dab on lips 2-3 times/day -Yashtimadhu paste= licorice + water= apply 5-10 min -Honey only if tolerated= if no burning, apply thin layer for 5 min HOENY heals cracks but may sting in sensitive pitta condition -Tender coconut water rinse= hold in mouth 1 min->spit out, reduces acidity and burning

Your symptoms are treatable, but it requires -cooling of pitta -strengthening of lip barrier -avoiding triggers -nourishing immunity -healing vata dryness -correcting gut/liver imbalance Because oils cause burning for you, we first cool pitta with no oily formulas. After 6-8 weeks, when burning reduces , mild oils (like kumkumadi or cow ghee) may be reintroduced very slowly of tolerated

Consistency is the key- improvement may take 6-12 weeks

DO FOLLOW

HOPE THIS MIGHT BE HELPFUL

THANK YOU

Your lips are reacting because there is too much heat and dryness inside the body because of this, even a small amount of spice masala or oil based lip balm, causes, burning, blisters, cracking and peeling The skin on the lips has become extremely sensitive, so the first step is to reduce internal heat and heal the mucosa, not to apply heavy balms… Start on Avipattikara churna teaspoon with water before meals twice daily Mulethi churna 1/4 teaspoon with warm water once daily Arogyavardini vati Punarnavadi mandura one tablet twice daily after food with warm water Apply pure aloe vera gel over lips or pure coconut oil can be applied

Avoid chilli, pickles, tomatoes, tamarind masala, gravy Drink plenty of fluids, coconut water Prefer soft, non spicy food

Hello I can truly understand your concern. The continuous cracking, bleeding, sensitivity to oils, and pain while eating must be extremely frustrating. Don’t worry, though, we are always here to support you 😊

✅AYURVEDIC PLAN OF TREATMENT

✅INTERNAL MEDICINES (Most crucial in your situation)

Introduce these to bring Vata + Pitta under control and to regenerate mucosa from the inside.

1. Avipattikar Churna ½ tsp after lunch + dinner ( Puts out Pitta heat from the inside, acidity, and ulcers in mouth)

2. Yashtimadhu (Licorice) Churna.½ tsp with warm water morning ( Heals the tissue, reduces swelling, and induces natural moistening) (VERY) definite in lip diseases

3. Manjishtadi Kahsay 20 ml twice daily with warm water (Calms the inflamed skin, the burning sensation, dermatitis, and allergic response)

4. Sarivadyasava- 15 ml after lunch & dinner (Blood cooler, reduces blisters and hypersensitivity)

5. Gandhak Rasayan 1 tablet twice a day ( Extremely beneficial for chronic skin diseases, peeling, and fissures)

✅LOCAL CARE(Safe for sensitive lips)

Since you are not able to tolerate oils, these are non-oily, comfortable, and mend the barrier.

1. Honey + Turmeric Micro-Mixture(very mild) i½ tsp honey + a pinch of turmeric Apply a thin layer once a day Retain it for 10–15 minutes and then rinse with lukewarm water ( Antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, and tissue-regenerating)

2. Aloe Vera Pure Gel (ONLY if no reaction) (If possible use fresh gel from the plant, not packaged one) Apply a pea-size amount twice everyday

3. Avarampoo Flower Water (if available) Remove the cap and take cotton swab to dip the liquid ( Extremely refreshing for Pitta type of lips)

4. Glycerin + Rose water (50:50) Application 2–3 times daily Non-oily but moisturizing & soothing (The cheilitis patients, in general, are better in this respect)

Complete avoidance of all oils should be until the inflammation has reduced significantly.

✅ DIET PLAN (Very important)

❌ Totally avoid for 4–6 weeks:

Chilli Masala gravies Tomato, pickles Citrus fruits (orange, lemon) Curd Coffee Deep fried foods

➡️ They directly worsen the Pitta on the lips

✔️Eat more Moong dal Pumpkin Lauki (bottle gourd) Cucumber Rice Ghee (internally is good if tolerated) Buttermilk (thin + without salt + no chillies) Coconut water (at room temperature)

✅ LIFESTYLE & UNIQUE LIP CARE PRACTICES

1. Steam inhalation 2 minutes (Warm, not hot steaming) Lips get hydrated from the inside and cracking is lessened

2. Breathing practices Sheetali pranayama (cooling) 3–5 minutes in the morning

❌ AVOID Constant lip licking Peeling dry skin Face washing with hot water Applying toothpaste on lips Eating dry snacks (chips, ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌khakra)

Wishing you a good health😊

Hello, Thank you for explaining your condition in detail. Your long-standing peeling, cracking, blistering with spicy foods, bleeding, intolerance to oils or balms, and severe pain strongly indicate Vranashotha–Pittaja–Vatakopa Mukha Roga in Ayurveda — a condition caused by Pitta aggravation (burning, blisters), Vata aggravation (dryness, cracking), and Rasa–Rakta dhatu dushti. The aim of treatment will be to cool and purify Pitta, soothe irritated mucosa, heal the lip epithelium, and restore the protective moisture barrier through Shodhana, Shamana, and Rasayana therapies.

🔎 Recommended Investigations 1.CBC + ESR – to rule out underlying inflammation. 2.Vitamin B2, B6, B12, Folate levels – deficiencies commonly trigger cheilitis. 3.Iron profile + Ferritin – low iron worsens lip cracking. 3.Food allergy panel (optional) – since spicy & masala trigger blisters. 4.Patch test for contact dermatitis triggers (to confirm ingredient intolerance).

💊 Internal Medicines Phase 1 – 21 days (Pitta Shamana & Mucosal Healing) 1.Guduchi ghana vati – 1 tablet twice daily after food Cools Pitta, reduces inflammation, supports healing. 2.Avipattikar churna – ½ tsp with warm water at night Controls internal heat and acidity that worsens lip burning. 3.Kamdudha ras (moti yukta) – 1 tablet twice daily before food Excellent for mouth ulcers, burning, and blister tendency. 4.Sariva syrup (Hemidesmus) – 10 ml twice daily Improves Raktashodhana, reduces sensitivity and heat.

Phase 2 – 45 days (Rasayana & Regeneration of Lip Tissue) 1.Yashtimadhu churna – ½ tsp with warm water morning & night Strong mucosal healer, restores lip epithelial layer. 2.Saraswata ghrita – ½ tsp in the morning with warm water Nourishes depleted Vata, improves moisture and prevents cracking. 3.Aloe vera ras – 20 ml empty stomach Soothes internal Pitta and supports skin regeneration. 4.Chyawanprash (sugar-free if heat symptoms persist) – 1 tsp every morning Improves immunity, reduces recurrence of inflammation.

🌿 External & Supportive Therapies Your lips are highly sensitive and cannot tolerate oils — so you will get only non-oily, mucosa-safe, cooling applications. 1. Cooling Gel Application (2–3 times daily) Use pure aloe vera gel (no fragrance or color). Apply a thin layer. Reduces burning, heals blisters, adds moisture without oiliness. 2. Licorice + Honey Healing Paste (Night) Mix: Yashtimadhu (licorice) powder – a pinch Pure honey – ½ tsp Apply for 20 minutes, then wash off with cool water. Accelerates healing and stops peeling. 3. Glycerin + Rosewater Mix (Daytime) Combine 1:1 and apply gently with a cotton bud. Maintains moisture without oils, prevents cracking, reduces pain. 4. Avoid in Your Case *Vaseline *Ghee *Butter *Coconut oil *Castor oil *Lip balms (fragranced, flavored, tinted)

Your pattern suggests allergic/hyper-irritant contact cheilitis, so avoid all potential sensitizers.

🥗 Diet & Lifestyle Recommendations ❌ Avoid (very important)

All spicy foods, chili, masala curries (you already identified these as triggers). Sour foods – tomatoes, citrus, pickles. Very hot beverages. Oily, fried foods (increase Pitta). Chocolate, nuts, mint, or cinnamon-containing foods (common allergens). Licking lips – worsens peeling.

✅ Include <Soft, non-spicy, warm meals. <Cooling foods – cucumber, ash gourd juice, coconut water* (if tolerated)*. <Ghee internally (1 tsp with food, not on lips) – supports Vata healing. <Warm water throughout the day. <Green vegetables, moong dal, rice.

🧘🏻‍♀️ Simple Daily Routine Morning: Aloe vera gel → 10 minutes → rinse → Apply glycerin–rosewater.

Afternoon: Reapply glycerin–rosewater.

Night: Licorice–honey paste → rinse → thin layer aloe gel.

Avoid rubbing or peeling loose skin.

Cover lips with a soft mask outdoors to prevent dehydration.

🕉️ Follow-up & Duration =Burning & blistering reduce in 7–10 days =Cracking decreases in 3–4 weeks =Peeling reduces significantly in 6–8 weeks =Complete mucosal restoration takes 2–3 months =Continue Rasayana phase for stable long-term recovery.

Warm regards Dr.Sumi.S MS(Ayu)

Exfoliative cheilitis can be particularly distressing with symptoms like cracking, bleeding, and extreme sensitivity to anything applied. In Ayurveda, the condition could be seen as pitta imbalance, particularly affecting Rakta dhatu (blood tissue) possibly mixed with vata elements due to dryness.

First, managing dietary intake is crucial. Avoid spicy foods like chilies and masala curries, as they aggravate pitta and can worsen symptoms. Instead, opt for a diet that cools and soothes. Cucumbers, melons, and zucchinis can help as they’re naturally moisturizing and pitta-reducing. Rice and warm milk are also gentle on the digestive system and less likely to trigger inflammation.

Hydration is fundamental, but avoid extremely cold or extremely hot beverages. Room temperature water or water with a few teaspoons of fresh coriander juice can be calming. Listen to your body signals about what’s irritating and unpalatable.

Externally, though many oils and balms might not work, you can try using pure Aloe vera juice from the leaf applied directly to the lips. It’s cooling and can potentially heal tissue without clogging or causing reactions. Another option, albeit experimental given usability issues, is Licorice root paste applied very thinly. It’s known for its anti-inflammatory properties in Ayurveda.

For immediate relief, especially when faced with inflammation and the inability to fully open your mouth: turmeric and coconut milk paste if tolerated can provide relief. Mix a small amount of turmeric with coconut milk to form a paste and apply gently across lips. Ensure you’re not allergic to these.

Finally, constant stress and anxiety can exacerbate many skin conditions… Including cheilitis. Simple guided breathwork or Pranayama can balance emotional well-being. If symptoms persist or worsen, timely consultation with a healthcare provider is advised.
