Ah, kidney stones, they can be quite the pest, can’t they? At 3.3 mm, yes, your stone is small enough that it can likely pass on its own, but pain levels really vary from person to person. The occasional sharp pain and burning sensation while urinating are unfortunately common symptoms.
In Ayurveda, we try to address not just the stone itself but also the root causes. Gokshura and Pashanabheda are well-known for supporting kidney health. Gokshura can help in alleviating the pain and reducing inflammation. Take it in moderation though - about a teaspoon of the powdered form mixed in warm water twice daily might help. Pashanabheda, which literally means stone breaker, might assist in breaking down the stone to pass more easily. You could make a decoction by boiling the roots in water and drinking it once or twice a day. Just be patient, it often takes time for these to show effects!
About diet - yes, certain foods like spinach, tomatoes, and even beans are high in oxalates which could aggravate stone formation. Try to cut down on those, and up your fluid intake – water is your best friend here, aim for at least 2-3 liters a day to help flush out the stones. Lemon water can do wonders too because of the citrate that helps deter stones.
For pain management, adding cumin, coriander, and fennel seeds in your diet might cool things down a bit. You could also try sitting in a warm bath, sometimes simple warmth offers surprising relief.
As for preventing future occurrences? Maintaining a balanced Vata, Pitta, and Kapha through proper diet and lifestyle suited to your dosha type is key. Physical activity and managing stress help too.
Do keep open communication with your doctor and make sure they’re aware of any supplements or herbal remedies you’re using, since they can offer guidance tailored to your unique situation. Ayurveda is wonderful, but do ensure your overall treatment approach is holistic and collaborative. Remember, patience is key!
