After gallbladder removal, the body’s bile flow can get directly into small intestine, which may affect digestion and sometimes lead to issues like bloating and constipation. In Ayurveda, this situation can be related to impaired digestive fire or agni. Here’s a few detailed advice to manage these symptoms in an Ayurvedic way.
First, focusing on your diet is crucial. Begin meals with a small piece of fresh ginger with few drops of lemon juice and a pinch of salt. This stimulate agni and aids digestion. Always eat warm, cooked foods. Avoid cold or raw foods which are heavy to digest and might cause bloating. Minimize spicy, oily and very fibrous foods like raw leafy greens till your digestion is balanced.
Incorporate triphala churna (powder) - an Ayurvedic remedy known for regulating bowel movements. Take one teaspoon at night with warm water, its laxative properties can relieve constipation and support your digestion. This can also help reducing piles due to its mild effect.
Hydration is key; drink warm water throughout the day. Avoid cold drinks. Infuse your water with fennel seeds or ajwain (carom seeds) to alleviate bloating.
For piles, use Kasisadi oil application before bath, as it’s soothing and aids in shrinkage. To manage discomfort, take a sitz bath with warm water and a cup of Triphala decoction for 10-15 minutes daily.
Remember lifestyle can make a substantial difference. Regular physical activity, like gentle yoga or walking, can improve digestion and bowel regularity. Stress has a direct effect on digestion, so incorporate relaxing activities like meditation or pranayam regularly.
