And stop ashokarishta because its prescribed flow is very heavy. Which is not the case here.
Thank you for reaching out and trusting this platform with your Health journey When period becomes lighter over time, even though the cycle remains regular, it usually mean the body is producing enough hormones to trigger a cycle, but not enough strength, nutrients or terrain tone to create a healthy full flow In Ayurveda, this pattern is often related to vata imbalance inside the reproductive channels, especially when the flow becomes very scanty, lighter and finishes in just 2 to 3 days Even if you know other symptoms, the quality of the bleeding itself tells that the endometrium is thinner, the blood dhatu is not getting fully nourished or the uterine muscle or not contracting strongly enough to shed properly
Asoka aristha is a good medicine, but it is more effective when there are symptoms like spotting pain, mood, swings, heaviness , or irregular cycles… In case where the only issue is reduced to flow- Asoka aristha alone may not be enough, and sometimes it doesn’t directly address the dryness or low blood tissue nourishment behind this pattern
A more suitable combination for your condition is Sukumaram kashayam 10 ML with equal warm water twice daily after meals Dashamoola aristha 10 ML with equal amount of water after meals Punarnava mandura one tablet twice daily after food, if fever, haemoglobin is low Shatavari kalpa 1 teaspoon with warm milk at night Diet is very important here Avoid cold food, dry food, fasting for too long, skipping meals, UT coffee, raw vegetables and bakery items directly, reduce menstrual flow by increasing vata -… Freshly cooked meals include ghee in diet, sesame seeds dates, almonds, black raisins moong dal practice, Pranayam meditation regularly If symptoms still persist once get CBC, thyroid profile, ultrasound pelvis to rule out any underlying issues
Add Tab.Shatavari 2-0-2
Hello Tulika, Really appreciate you for explaining the symptoms in such a clear manner. I understand the situation very well that it could be disturbing when the flow of the period decreases even if the cycle is regular.
It is not necessary to be very anxious - Ayurveda has a very simple way of handling this kind of problem and with proper care, your flow will definitely get better naturally.
✅ Understanding Your Condition (Ayurvedic View)
Your menstrual cycle is regular, but the flow has become very scanty and is only for 2–3 days, thus this situation indicates:
➡️ Vata–Kapha Imbalance Vata dries the endometrium → light/spotty flow Kapha causes sluggishness → less shedding of the uterine lining
Stress, irregular meal patterns, long sitting hours, or overthinking can increase Vata.
➡️ Rasadhatu & Artavavaha Srotas Weakness
When the reproductive channel is under-nourished, the body produces less healthy menstrual blood, leading to lighter periods.
This is not a sign of danger, but rather a signal that your system needs more nourishment and better circulation.
✅ Is Ashokarishta Right for You?
Ashokarishta is an effective medicine that mainly works for: Heavy bleeding Painful periods Spotting Fibroids/PCOD-related issues
👉 In your case (very light flow, short duration, no pain)
Ashokarishta is not the most suitable because it is a stambhana (flow-controlling) tonic. Overuse may further reduce flow in someone already having scanty periods.
❌ So I do NOT recommend that you continue Ashokarishta.

Changes in menstrual flow can be attributed to various factors, such as stress, diet, lifestyle, hormonal changes or underlying health issues. In your situation, where the periods are regular but the flow has decreased, Ayurveda would consider looking into any potential vata or pitta imbalances. Ashokarishta is generally used as a supportive remedy to maintain healthy menstrual cycles and it may help tonify the uterus and balance the hormones.
However, given the minimal flow, it’s essential to ensure there aren’t any nutritional deficiencies, like iron or B vitamins, affecting your health. Including foods rich in iron and vitamin C, such as leafy greens, oranges, and seeds, could be beneficial. Meanwhile, maintaining a balanced diet avoiding excessive spicy, fried, or processed foods is important.
In terms of lifestyle, regular physical activity can enhance blood flow and reduce stress levels. It’s important to find an exercise routine you enjoy, whether it’s yoga, walking or any other physical activities. In addition, managing stress through meditation or pranayama can support hormonal balance.
If you choose to continue with Ashokarishta, ensure it is consumed around 1-2 tbsp with equal amounts of water, after meals twice a day. Monitor your body’s response, and consult an Ayurvedic practitioner if no improvements or if any other symptoms arise.
It’s advisable to keep a menstrual diary to track any changes in your cycle or symptoms, aiding any future consultations. If your symptoms persist or worsen, seek medical evaluation to rule out any underlying conditions. This approach ensures a comprehensive understanding of your condition tailored to individual needs.
