Hello, I‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ most definitely understand where you are coming from. Sudden hair fall and thinning of hair at the forehead can be really upsetting, and the fact that it is you are stressed on top of that—however, do not be worried. There are naturals that can help with hair regrowth and make your scalp stronger.

YOUR CONCERN

You have: Hair fall for more than 6 months; Thinning hairline at the forehead; Shampoo your hair only once a week; Do not oil your hair; Stress is a contributing factor; Overall health is fair.

This points to a Vata–Pitta imbalance in the Raktavaha Srotas (blood and hair channels), which is usually intensified by stress, poor scalp nutrition, and not oiling.

According to Ayurveda, hair fall is mostly linked to the loss of Ojas and deficiency of Rasadhatu, which results in weak hair roots and thinning.

INTERNAL MEDICATION (For strengthening hair roots and promoting regrowth)

1. Bhringraj Churna – ½ tsp with warm milk or water at night (Supports hair regrowth and reduces hair fall)

2. Ashwagandha Churna – ½ tsp at night with warm milk (Relieves stress, balances Vata–Pitta and energizes hair)

3. Amalaki juice – 15–20 ml in the morning (Very clean source of Vitamin C and antioxidants, it helps hair follicles to become stronger)

Do not forget to take these for 3 months to see the results.

EXTERNAL / HOME THERAPIES

1. Scalp Oil Massage – 2–3 times a week Use Bhringraj oil, Amla oil, or Coconut oil → Oxygen and nutrient supply are increased through blood flow, thus the root gets stronger, hair fall reduces.

2. Do not use harsh chemical shampoos or wash hair frequently → Few times per week of gently washing is enough.

HOME REMEDIES

1. Fenugreek seeds paste – use it on the scalp once a week to reduce hair fall;

2. Aloe vera gel – heals scalp and makes hair strong;

3. Onion juice (optional) – On the follicles, apply for 15–20 mins once a week to energize them.

DIET PLAN

INCLUDE

Protein-rich foods: dals, eggs, nuts; Leafy greens: spinach, methi; Fruits rich with Vitamin C and Amla; Good fats: ghee, sesame seeds, flaxseeds; Do not forget water, it keeps your scalp fresh.

AVOID

Too much fried/oily foods; Over-styling, heating, or applying chemicals on hair; Too much stress and not enough sleep.

LIFESTYLE TIPS

Regular moderate exercise to improve blood flow; Adequate sleep of 7–8 hours; Stress management: meditation, yoga, or breathing exercises; Combing gently and not using tight hairstyles.

INVESTIGATIONS (ONLY IF HAIR FALL PERSISTS OR WORSENS)

Thyroid profile (TSH, T3, T4) CBC and iron studies (to rule out anemia) Scalp dermatology evaluation (if suspected fungal or patchy hair loss)

Combination of regular hair oiling, herbal inventory, balanced diet, and stress handling should gradually bring down hair fall and make regrowth visible in 2–3 months.

Warm wishes, Dr Snehal ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌Vidhate

Hair fall and thinning of the hairline are common concerns that can often be addressed with some changes in your daily routine. First thing is identifying a potential dosha imbalance. Sudden hairfall could be linked to Pitta imbalance, as excess heat or internal inflammation can damage the hair follicles. Focusing on Pitta-pacifying habits, especially correcting diet, is crucial.

Include more cooling foods in diet like cucumber, coconut, melon, and leafy greens. Avoid spicy, fried and acidic foods that might aggravate Pitta. Consider drinking a glass of amla juice (Indian gooseberry) daily, its cooling properties and high vitamin C content can strengthen hair roots.

Oiling is fundamental in Ayurveda for hair health. Massage your scalp two or three times a week with oil suited to your hair type. Coconut oil or Brahmi oil is particularly beneficial, promoting cooling and nourishing the hair follicles. Warm the oil slightly before applying it to enhance absorption.

Also, using mild herbal shampoos containing natural ingredients like hibiscus, reetha or shikakai can prevent further hair loss. Wash your hair gently, excessive rubbing can be harsh on scalp leading to more hair fall.

Incorporate yoga and meditation into your routine, reducing stress is very essential as stress contributes significantly to hair loss. Regular exercise keeps blood circulation up which also boosts better nutrient delivery to hair follicles.

Try herbal supplements like Bhringraj or Ashwagandha, known for their benefits in hair regrowth and strengthening. It’s always a good idea to consult an Ayurvedic practitioner before starting any supplements.

Avoid using heat styling tools, and protect hair from harsh sun exposure, as this can further damage the hair. Consider wearing a hat or using an umbrella when necessary.

Lastly, good sleep is vital. Make sure you are getting at least 7-8 hours of quality sleep per night. This ensures the body’s systems are balanced and can aid in reversing hair thinning.
