Struggling with Gas and Bloating after Ayurvedic Remedies - #46692

Client_f58a76
$10

I have vata dosha. So, I was advised to take Hingwashtak Churna and ghee. However, when I take Hingwashtak Churna after or before meals, or ghee with warm water in morning , or even cumin tea, I experience gas and bloating, leading to constipation. My agni is weak and unstable. Instead of helping my digestion, these remedies seem to make it worse. What I must do to fix it? And strengthen my Agni?

How long have you been experiencing gas and bloating after taking these remedies?:

- 1-4 weeks

What is your typical daily diet like?:

- Balanced, with moderate fiber

Have you tried any other remedies or treatments for your digestion?:

- Yes, various Ayurvedic herbs

Namaste 🌿

What you are experiencing is very important clinically — it shows that your problem is not simple Vata, but Vata with Mandā–Vishama Agni and hidden Āma. In such cases, strong or ushna medicines actually worsen symptoms, exactly like you described.

Let me explain clearly and then give you a step-by-step correction plan.

Why Hingwashtak, ghee, cumin tea are worsening you - Although Hingwashtak, ghee and jeera are commonly advised for Vata, they are NOT suitable when Agni is weak and unstable.

1️⃣ Your Agni type You have: - Mandā Agni (low digestive fire) - Vishama Agni (irregular digestion due to Vata) - Āma present (undigested food toxins) In this state: - Ushna & Tikshna drugs → ferment food - Ghee → blocks weak Agni - Jeera / hing → creates gas instead of digestion 👉 That’s why you feel bloating, gas and constipation, not relief.

First rule: ❌ DO NOT stimulate Agni aggressively Stop these for now: - Hingwashtak churna - Ghee in morning / empty stomach - Jeera water / cumin tea - Trikatu / ginger-heavy remedies These are for strong Agni, not weak unstable Agni.

Step 1: First remove Āma (very important) Until āma is cleared, Agni cannot be strengthened. ✔ Mild Āma-pācana (safe for you) Option A (best): - Shunthi (dry ginger) – 1 pinch - Saindhava lavan – 1 pinch Mix in warm water, sip only before lunch, once daily. 👉 No boiling, no strong tea. OR

Option B (if ginger causes burning): Ajwain – 5–6 seeds, chew after lunch (no water immediately)

Step 2: Stabilize Agni (not increase) ✔ Use Deepana–without–Tikshnata

Before meals (lunch & dinner): - 1 tsp buttermilk (takra) - Add a pinch of saindhava + roasted jeera powder 👉 This stabilizes Agni gently and reduces gas.

Step 3: Correct Vata without increasing gas Instead of ghee, use: ✔ Taila approach (very important for you) - 1 tsp sesame oil - Mix in warm cooked food (not raw, not with water) Take only at lunch, not morning

👉 Oil pacifies Vata without blocking weak Agni.

Step 4: Constipation correction (without gas) If stools are hard or incomplete: - Triphala – very small dose ¼ tsp in warm water Only at bedtime Use for 10–14 days only

👉 Large doses will worsen gas — keep it minimal.

Step 5: Diet rules Eat like this: ✔ Warm, freshly cooked food ✔ Thin moong dal, rice, lauki, pumpkin, bottle gourd ✔ Soft khichdi best for 2 weeks Avoid completely for now: ❌ Raw salads ❌ Sprouts ❌ Cold milk, curd at night ❌ Multigrain, oats, bread ❌ Reheated food

What NOT to expect immediately - Your Agni will not become strong overnight. - First it becomes stable, then strong. Timeline - 7–10 days: gas & bloating reduce - 2–3 weeks: bowel regularity improves - 4–6 weeks: Agni becomes dependable

✨✨✨✨ In weak Agni, even good medicines behave like poison. You must prepare Agni before strengthening it.

Hingwashtak churna with ghee on an empty stomach, and cumin tea are all ushna and deepana in nature. When Agni is very weak, these substances do not kindle digestion ,Instead, they irritate the gut, push partially digested food into the colon, increase dryness, and aggravate Vata .That is why instead of lightness you are getting gas, bloating, and constipation.

For some time, better to stop Hingwashtak churna and avoid taking ghee or any digestive herbs on an empty stomach. In the morning, take warm water and allow the digestive system to wake up naturally. Fat and strong spices should only be taken along with food,.

meals be warm, freshly prepared, and soft in texture. Very dry, cold, raw, or leftover foods will worsen Vata and should be avoided Well cooked rice, moong dal, cooked vegetables, and soups are best. If you want to use ghee, take a small quantity mixed into hot food, not with water. This way it will nourish and lubricate the gut without blocking Agni.

small amount of fresh ginger with rock salt before meals can be used, but only if it feels comfortable and does not cause burning or bloating.

With this Agni slowly becomes steady , the colon regains moisture, and Vata starts settling down. Once digestion becomes more regular and gas reduces, stronger deepana medicines can be reintroduced carefully and in smaller doses.

Your symptoms (gas, bloating, constipation from Hingwashtak, ghee, cumin tea) indicate extreme Vata aggravation with very low Agni – these remedies are good for Vata but too heavy/hot for your current state. Stop them immediately & focus on ultra-gentle Agni-kindling first.

Stop All Triggers No Hingwashtak, ghee in water, cumin tea or any hot-potency herbs for 30 days – they overload your weak Agni.

Avoid high-fiber (raw salads, whole grains in excess) – stick to easy-digest foods only.

Gentle Agni-Building Medicines Dadimadi Ghrita – 5 gm morning empty stomach with warm water Avipattikar Churna – 3 gm + warm water before dinner Kamadudha Ras – 250 mg morning + night with water Shatavari Kalpa – 5 gm night with warm water

Daily Diet Breakfast: warm moong khichdi + minimal ghee Lunch: rice + thin moong dal + cooked carrot/lauki + pinch jeera Dinner before 7 PM: vegetable soup or light khichdi

Daily: pomegranate 1, coconut water, thin buttermilk + roasted jeera Avoid: raw veg, heavy pulses, spicy/sour, tea/coffee after 4 PM

Lifestyle Vajrasana 10 min after every meal Anulom-Vilom 10 min daily Sleep 10 PM – 6 AM strictly Gentle walk 20–30 min daily

Start Dadimadi Ghrita + Avipattikar tonight – gut will feel light soon!

WHAT YOU ARE EXPERIENCING IS ACTUALLY VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR DIGESTIVE FIRE, AND IT MEANS YOUR BODY IS RESPONDING HONESTLY.MANY ASSUME THAT IF THEY HAVE VATA DOSHA, ANY VATA SHAMANA REMEDY LIKE HINGWASHTAK CHURNA, GHEE, OR JEERA WILL AUTOMATICALLY HELP. BUT AYURVEDA NEVER WORKS ON DOSHA ALONE, IT WORKS ON THE STATE OF AGNI.

IN YOUR CASE, YOU DO HAVE VATA DOSHA, BUT YOUR AGNI IS NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO HANDLE DEEPANA AND SNIGDHA DRAVYAS DIRECTLY. YOUR AGNI IS VISHAMA AND MANDAGNI MIXED. IT FLUCTUATES AND TIRES EASILY. WHEN SUCH AN AGNI IS FORCED WITH STRONG DEEPANA LIKE HING, JEERA, OR EVEN GHEE, INSTEAD OF DIGESTING FOOD, IT COLLAPSES FURTHER. THAT IS WHY YOU FEEL MORE GAS, BLOATEDNESS, AND EVENTUALLY CONSTIPATION.

THIS IS A VERY CLASSIC MISTAKE MADE EVEN IN AYURVEDIC PRACTICE, WHERE STRONG MEDICINES ARE GIVEN BEFORE AGNI IS STABILIZED. YOUR DIGESTIVE FIRE DOES NOT NEED STIMULATION RIGHT NOW, IT NEEDS STABILITY AND PROTECTION FIRST.

HINGWASHTAK CHURNA IS HOT, DRY, AND STRONGLY STIMULATING. IN A PERSON WHOSE AGNI IS WEAK BUT IRRITABLE, IT CREATES MORE AIR AND MOVEMENT WITHOUT DIGESTIVE POWER. THAT RESULTS IN GAS TRAPPED IN THE INTESTINE AND HARD STOOL. THE SAME LOGIC APPLIES TO CUMIN TEA AND EVEN GHEE IN THE MORNING. GHEE IS NORMALLY EXCELLENT FOR VATA, BUT ONLY WHEN AGNI CAN DIGEST FAT. WHEN AGNI IS WEAK, GHEE BECOMES HEAVY AND BLOCKING.

DO NOT TAKE HINGWASHTAK CHURNA, JEERA WATER, OR GHEE IN THE MORNING .THEY ARE NOT SUITED TO YOUR CURRENT STATE.

START WITH SIMPLE, EASY TO DIGEST FOOD FOR A FEW WEEKS. WARM COOKED MEALS, SOFT RICE, MOONG DAL, VEGETABLE SOUPS, AND KHICHDI ARE IDEAL. EAT AT FIXED TIMES EVERY DAY EVEN IF HUNGER IS LOW. DO NOT EAT UNTIL THE PREVIOUS MEAL IS FULLY DIGESTED.

DRINK SMALL SIPS OF WARM WATER THROUGHOUT THE DAY, NOT LARGE AMOUNTS. AVOID RAW SALADS, CURD AT NIGHT, BAKERY ITEMS, DRY SNACKS, AND PROTEIN HEAVY MEALS FOR NOW.

INSTEAD OF HINGWASHTAK, A MUCH GENTLER OPTION FOR YOU IS SHEETOPALADI CHURNA IN SMALL DOSE IF YOU HAVE USED IT BEFORE WITHOUT PROBLEMS. IT CALMS AGNI AND ALLOWS IT TO REBUILD NATURALLY.

FOR GAS AND BLOATING, DO NOT SUPPRESS IT WITH STRONG CARMINATIVES. LET THE SYSTEM SETTLE. LIGHT WALKING AFTER MEALS AND DEEP BREATHING ARE MORE HELPFUL THAN MEDICINES AT THIS POINT.

ONCE YOUR STOOLS BECOME SOFT AND REGULAR AND BLOATING REDUCES, ONLY THEN SHOULD GHEE BE INTRODUCED, AND THAT TOO IN VERY SMALL AMOUNT MIXED WITH FOOD, NOT ALONE WITH WATER. GHEE SHOULD NEVER BE TAKEN ON EMPTY STOMACH IN A PERSON WITH WEAK AGNI.

AGNI IS STRENGTHENED BY CONSISTENCY. WHEN YOU EAT SIMPLY, ON TIME, AND STOP EXPERIMENTING WITH MULTIPLE HERBS, YOUR DIGESTIVE FIRE WILL SLOWLY BECOME STEADY.

FIRST STABILIZE AGNI, THEN NOURISH, THEN STIMULATE IF NEEDED.
