-Giardiasis is caused by the parasite Giardia lamblia. Chronic infection can cause:
Diarrhea or semi-solid stools
Bloating and excessive gas
Foul-smelling stools
Malabsorption leading to weight loss or vitamin deficiencies
Since you’ve had it for more than a year, it’s considered chronic giardiasis, which can be more stubborn to treat.
-Herbal Formulations
1)Vidanga Churna – 1 g with warm water, twice daily after meals.
2)bilwadi vati – 1 tab at bedtime with warm water, helps heal the gut and regulate stools.
3)Ajwain + Fennel – ½ tsp each; chew after meals or boil in ½ cup water and sip to reduce gas and bloating.
4)Kutaj Churna –1 g with warm water, 2–3 times daily if stools are very loose.
2. Lifestyle & Dietary Recommendations
Eat rice, khichdi, moong dal, and boiled vegetables.
Avoid oily, fried, very spicy, or high-sugar foods.
Limit raw vegetables and gas-producing fruits (like cabbage, cauliflower).
Drink warm water or herbal teas (ginger, fennel, ajwain) throughout the day.
Take 5–6 small meals instead of 2–3 large ones, chewing food well.
-Avoid cold drinks, ice cream, processed foods, alcohol, and overuse of laxatives or antibiotics.
3. Probiotics (Ayurveda-friendly)
-Buttermilk with a pinch of rock salt after meals.
Ghee – ½ tsp in warm milk or food to support digestion if stools are not very loose.
4. Panchakarma
-Virechana (therapeutic purgation) in persistent cases, under supervision.
Duration: 3–4 weeks initially, then reassess. Chronic cases may require repetition or combination therapy.
