Doctors' responses

-Giardiasis is caused by the parasite Giardia lamblia. Chronic infection can cause: Diarrhea or semi-solid stools Bloating and excessive gas Foul-smelling stools Malabsorption leading to weight loss or vitamin deficiencies Since you’ve had it for more than a year, it’s considered chronic giardiasis, which can be more stubborn to treat. -Herbal Formulations 1)Vidanga Churna – 1 g with warm water, twice daily after meals. 2)bilwadi vati – 1 tab at bedtime with warm water, helps heal the gut and regulate stools. 3)Ajwain + Fennel – ½ tsp each; chew after meals or boil in ½ cup water and sip to reduce gas and bloating. 4)Kutaj Churna –1 g with warm water, 2–3 times daily if stools are very loose. 2. Lifestyle & Dietary Recommendations Eat rice, khichdi, moong dal, and boiled vegetables. Avoid oily, fried, very spicy, or high-sugar foods. Limit raw vegetables and gas-producing fruits (like cabbage, cauliflower). Drink warm water or herbal teas (ginger, fennel, ajwain) throughout the day. Take 5–6 small meals instead of 2–3 large ones, chewing food well. -Avoid cold drinks, ice cream, processed foods, alcohol, and overuse of laxatives or antibiotics. 3. Probiotics (Ayurveda-friendly) -Buttermilk with a pinch of rock salt after meals. Ghee – ½ tsp in warm milk or food to support digestion if stools are not very loose. 4. Panchakarma -Virechana (therapeutic purgation) in persistent cases, under supervision. Duration: 3–4 weeks initially, then reassess. Chronic cases may require repetition or combination therapy.
