According to Ayurveda, severe dry hair and flaky skin are commonly due to increased Vata dosha. Advise regular oil massage with coconut or sesame oil, proper hydration, stress reduction, adequate sleep, and nourishing foods like ghee, almonds, and amla. Use mild cleansers and avoid excessive hot water. Internal rasayana and Vata-pacifying treatment may help after proper Ayurvedic assessment. —Rx 1. Cap. Amla Rasayan – 1 cap twice daily after food 2. Tab. Ashwagandha – 1 tab twice daily after food 3. Mahabhringraj Taila – apply on scalp 3 times weekly, gentle massage 4. Nalpamaradi / Coconut oil – apply over dry skin daily after bath -----Advice: - Avoid very hot water and chemical shampoos - Take proper sleep and reduce stress - Include ghee, almonds, sesame, fresh fruits in diet - Drink adequate water

In Ayurveda, this stage of life is known as Vata Kala, a beautiful phase dominated by the Vata dosha, which naturally embodies the qualities of dryness (ruksha), lightness (laghu), and coldness (sheeta). ​1. Hair Care Remedies (Kesha Chikitsa) ​The frizancy and dryness in your hair signify that the hair roots (Kesha Bhoomi) and shafts need intense lubrication. ••​Warm Oil Shiro-Abhyanga (Head Massage): •​What to use: Use Bhringraj oil, Til Taila (Sesame oil), or Almond oil. Sesame oil is inherently warming and deeply penetrating, making it excellent for Vata. •​How to apply: Warm the oil slightly. Gently massage it into your scalp using your fingertips in circular motions for 10–15 minutes. This stimulates blood circulation and nourishes the hair follicles. Leave it on for at least an hour or overnight. ​Natural, Non-Drying Cleansing: ​Avoid harsh chemical shampoos that strip away natural oils. Wash your hair with lukewarm water using mild herbs like Shikakai and Reetha, or a gentle, sulfate-free Ayurvedic shampoo. ••​Ayurvedic Hair Mask (Shiro-Lepa): ​Mix 2 tablespoons of Amla powder with fresh yogurt or curd (which is hydrating and pacifies Vata). Apply this to your scalp and hair, leave it for 30 minutes, and rinse thoroughly. ​2. Skin Care Remedies (Twachya Chikitsa) ​Flaky skin indicates that the skin barrier needs external moisture protection and internal cellular hydration. ••​Daily Abhyanga (Self-Massage): ​Before your bath, massage your entire body with warm Mahanarayan oil, Dhanwantharam oil, or simple organic Sesame oil. ​Let the skin absorb it for 15–20 minutes before stepping into the shower. This builds a protective moisture shield and calms the nervous system. ••​Ubtan instead of Soap: ​Commercial soaps can aggravate flakiness. Instead, make a gentle, hydrating scrub. ​Recipe: Mix 2 tablespoons of chickpea flour (besan) or oat flour with a pinch of turmeric and enough fresh milk cream (malai) or raw milk to form a paste. Gently apply and rinse off. The fats in the milk cream will instantly soothe dry flakes. ••​Natural Hydration: ​Apply pure Aloe vera gel mixed with a drop of almond oil to your face and dry areas at night to restore the skin’s glow. ​3. Internal Nourishment (Ahara & Dinacharya) ​External applications are only half the cure; Ayurveda teaches that true beauty and health radiate from within. ••​Incorporate Good Fats (Sneha): ​Consume 1–2 teaspoons of pure A2 Cow’s Ghee daily with your warm meals. Ghee is the ultimate antidote to Vata dryness, lubricating the tissues from the inside out. ••​Stay Warm and Hydrated: ​Drink lukewarm water throughout the day. You can infuse it with a few fennel seeds (saunf) or ginger slices. Avoid ice-cold beverages entirely. ••​Vata-Pacifying Diet: ​Focus on warm, freshly cooked, and moist foods like soups, stews, and khichdi. ​Include soaked almonds and walnuts in your morning routine. Limit dry, crunchy, raw, or cold foods (like salads and crackers), as they increase internal dryness. ••​Rasayana (Rejuvenating Herbs): ​Consider taking Amalaki (Amla) or a teaspoon of Chyawanprash daily. Amla is rich in Vitamin C and antioxidants, excellent for both skin vitality and hair strength.
