A few weeks ago, my father complained of chest discomfort while walking. He said it wasn’t exactly pain, just a tight feeling, like something was pressing down on his chest. At first, we thought it was just acidity or maybe muscle strain, but it kept happening whenever he walked even a short distance. We finally went to a doctor, and after some tests, they diagnosed him with CAD (coronary artery disease). The doctor explained that CAD happens when the arteries get blocked or narrowed due to plaque buildup, making it harder for blood to flow properly to the heart. They suggested medication and lifestyle changes, but they also mentioned that if things get worse, he might need a stent or even bypass surgery. Hearing that scared us all because we never thought his condition was that serious. My father has always been active, and he doesn’t eat a lot of junk food. But he does have diabetes, and we were told that could have contributed to his CAD. I started looking into Ayurveda because I want to see if there’s a natural way to manage or even improve his condition without having to rely only on medicines. Does Ayurveda offer treatments that can help clear blockages in the arteries naturally? Are there specific herbs or therapies that improve heart health and blood circulation for CAD? Another thing is that my father sometimes feels very fatigued, even when he hasn’t done much physical activity. Could this be related to poor circulation due to CAD? Does Ayurveda have any diet recommendations for keeping the heart strong and reducing plaque buildup? I’ve read about herbs like Arjuna for heart health, but I don’t know how to use them properly. I really want to find a natural approach to managing CAD and reducing the risk of complications like heart attacks. Has anyone used Ayurveda for CAD and actually seen improvements? How long does it take for Ayurvedic treatments to show results? Should he continue with allopathic medicines alongside Ayurvedic remedies, or can Ayurveda fully replace them over time?

In Ayurveda, coronary artery disease (CAD) is often seen as a result of an imbalance in the doshas, particularly an excess of Kapha (which governs structure and lubrication) and Ama (toxins) that can build up and cause blockages in the arteries. To support your father’s heart health naturally, Ayurveda focuses on improving circulation, reducing plaque buildup, and balancing the digestive system. Herbs like Arjuna, which is known for its heart-strengthening properties, and Guggulu, which helps in clearing toxins and reducing cholesterol, can be beneficial in supporting heart function and improving circulation. Turmeric and ginger are also commonly used for their anti-inflammatory properties, helping reduce plaque formation and promoting better blood flow. For diet, Ayurveda recommends a heart-healthy regimen that includes whole grains, fresh vegetables, lean proteins, and heart-healthy fats like ghee and olive oil. It's also important to avoid heavy, oily, and processed foods that can worsen Kapha imbalances. Regular light exercise, such as walking or yoga, can help improve circulation, reduce fatigue, and strengthen the heart. As for managing diabetes, it’s important to focus on balancing blood sugar levels through diet and herbs like Fenugreek and Bitter Melon. While Ayurvedic remedies can support heart health and improve circulation over time, it’s crucial to continue with allopathic medications, especially in the case of CAD, until advised otherwise by your healthcare provider. Improvement with Ayurveda typically takes time, so a consistent approach over a few weeks or months is necessary. Integrating both Ayurvedic remedies and conventional treatments can offer a holistic approach to managing CAD and reducing complications.
