How to treat delay in speech of 2.5 years baby boy. - #19803
My boy of 2.5 year doesn't speak. He shouts a loud some time. Other habits of eating, playing with toys are very normal. Physical he is fit and there is no other medical problem to him. He even listens when he wishes. Other wise it seems is if he doesn't listen.

Hello Sabir, I understand your concerns about your 2.5-year-old not speaking yet, even though he seems physically healthy and engages in normal activities. Delayed speech can sometimes be related to developmental factors, but Ayurveda focuses on overall balance and health, including mental and emotional well-being. It’s important to consider factors like digestion, sleep patterns, and even potential stressors in his environment that could be influencing his communication. Could you share more about his birth history, any developmental milestones he has reached, and if there have been any changes in his environment recently? It might also be helpful to know about his diet, sleep quality, and if there are any signs of discomfort or irritation that could be affecting his speech development.
Dear sabir, your 2.5-year-old son’s speech and responsiveness. It’s encouraging that he exhibits normal eating and playing behaviors and is physically healthy. However, the lack of speech development and inconsistent responsiveness warrant attention. So I suggest you once consult paediatrician for better evaluation
When it comes to speech delay in kids around 2.5 years old, there might be a few things that could be going on. Sometimes the Vata dosha imbalances might affect speech and communication in Ayurveda terms. Now, this might sound a bit out there but some very simple practices can help balance the Vata dosha.
First, incorporating Abhyanga or routine massage with warm sesame oil can be quite calming and grounding for kids, especially if there’s an excess of Vata. Do it daily if you can, before his bath, for about 10-15 mins. It’s not just good for speech but also builds overall resilience and calmness.
Another thing you might wanna try is adding Brahmi (Bacopa monnieri) to his routine. Brahmi is known for its benefits on cognitive function and speech. You can get Brahmi in powder form; mix a small pinch with a teaspoon of honey – if he’s eating solids, that is. Honey should only be given if he’s over 1 year old.
Sometimes, children suppress their urge to speak or listen selectively. Since you mentioned he sometimes doesn’t seem to listen, it might be helpful to engage in active listening exercises. Talking to him while maintaining eye contact, and encouraging him to mimic sounds or words can gradually help.
Also, ensure his diet is rich in the right nutrients - things like nuts (soaked almonds), milk with a pinch of turmeric; stuff that’s yoga to revitalizing and nurturing in Ayurveda.
You should still consider getting him checked by a speech therapist or pediatrician, just to rule out any underlying issues that Ayurveda alone mightn’t address promptly. Sometimes early intervention with therapies makes a huge difference!
Patience is key. Kids develop at their own pace but if your gut tells you somethings off, some professional guidance won’t hurt.
