Considering the symptoms you’ve described like hormonal imbalance, mood swings, depression, and gut issues, it’s important to address these with a holistic approach. In Ayurveda, balancing your body begins with aligning your dosha, igniting digestive fire (agni), and nurturing the dhatus (body tissues).

First, to help balance your hormones and improve mood swings, focus on consuming whole foods rich in nutrients. Incorporate foods that are sattvic, meaning calming and nourishing. This includes fresh fruits like pomegranates, apples, pears, vegetables such as spinach, sweet potatoes, carrots, and grains like quinoa, basmati rice. Include healthy fats from sources like ghee, almonds, and walnuts. Try to minimize processed foods and sugars, they tend to increase vata and contribute to mood swings.

For gut health, start your day with a glass of warm water with a slice of ginger. An Ayurvedic remedy such as triphala can also be helpful. You may take half a teaspoon of triphala powder with warm water at bedtime. It’s excellent in detoxifying the gut and aiding digestion.

Now, coming to lifestyle, having a consistent routine is crucial. Rise early, ideally 5-6 a.m., and ensure you get 7-8 hours of quality sleep. Engage in exercises like yoga that not only balance the mind but also help with hormonal imbalances. Poses like Balasana (Child’s pose), Savasana (Corpse pose), and Anulom Vilom pranayama (a breathing exercise) are particularly effective for calming the mind and reducing stress.

For sustaining happiness, consider a daily gratitude journal. Write down three things you’re grateful for each day, it can help shift your mindset.

Remember, these are starting steps. Hormonal imbalances can require professional oversight. Consider consulting an Ayurvedic practitioner or a physician for a deeper assessment. Immediate intervention might sometimes be necessary, so don’t hesitate to seek direct medical care if you feel persistently overwhelmed.
