Hello Sujan, I can understand your concern about dandruff and hairfall at just 22 year of age but dont worry we are here to help you outđ
In Ayurveda, dandruff is called Darunaka, caused by dryness, excess scalp flakes, and fungal growth.
If untreated, it weakens hair roots and causes continuous shedding.
â Why This Happens
1. Scalp Dryness in Winter â cold weather + hot water head baths increase Vata, causing itching & flakes. 2. Excess Oil & Sweat â , leading to sticky dandruff and fungal infection. 3. Improper Digestion (Agni) â excess junk, fried, or cold foods toxins (Ama) in blood - hair & skin issues. 4. Stress & Irregular sleep â aggravates hair fall
â AYURVEDIC PLAN OF TREATMENT
âď¸INTERNAL SUPPORT 1 Groo 1-0-1 after food 2 Saribadhyasavam 30ml-0-30ml after food 3 Jeevamrutham 1 tsp at bed time follwed by warm water

Mix neem oil + coconut oil + lemon juice, apply for 30 mins before bath.
đMedicated shampoos:
Use Ayurvedic powders like Shikakai + Reetha + Amla instead of harsh shampoos. If using a ready product â Kerala Ayurveda Dheedhi Shampoo or Kesh Kanti Anti-Dandruff (mild options).
Avoid daily chemical shampoos & hot water on scalp.
â HOME REMEDIES
đApply Aloe vera gel + neem paste on scalp once a week. Rinse scalp with fenugreek (methi) water or green tea â reduces itching & flaking. đApply curd + lemon pack once in 10 days (balances pH, reduces flakes).

To address your dandruff and itching, an Ayurvedic approach involves understanding the underlying imbalance of doshas, primarily focusing on excess Pitta and Kapha doshas. These imbalances often lead to scalp issues like dryness, flakiness and hair loss.
One key recommendation is the regular application of herbal oils, such as a mixture of coconut oil and neem oil. Neem has antifungal properties that can aid in reducing dandruff. Heat the oil slightly for better absorption, and gently massage it into the scalp 2-3 times a week. Leave it on for at least an hour before washing.
For washing, opt for a mild, natural shampoo containing ingredients like Reetha (soapnut) or Shikakai to cleanse the scalp without harsh chemicals. These herbs wonât strip away natural oils, allowing your scalp to maintain moisture balance. Wash your hair 2-3 times a week, depending on the oiliness or dryness, but avoid daily washing.
Internally, focus on balancing your diet to manage dosha imbalances. Reduce the intake of spicy, sour, and oily foods that can aggravate Pitta. Include cooling foods like cucumbers, melons, leafy greens which pacify Pitta. Hydration is key, ensure youâre drinking lukewarm water throughout the day.
Consider consuming Triphala churna, traditionally used for detoxifying the body, which can support a healthy scalp and hair. Mix half teaspoon in warm water, and take it before bedtime. Another internal supplement could be Amla (Indian Gooseberry) powder, known for rejuvenating hair health. A teaspoon with honey or warm water daily can strengthen hair roots.
Lastly, manage stress as it might contribute to hair issues. Practice regular yoga or meditation to maintain a calm mind and reduce stress levels, supporting overall scalp health. If your condition worsens or fails to improve, consulting a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner would be advisable to get more tailored approach to your needs.
Mahabringaraja taila- Scalp massage weekly twice Amla bringaraja shampoo- for hair wash
Kesha Kanti taila - hair oil Indulekha bring ha shampoo
Dandruff and scalp itching are often linked to an imbalance in the doshas, primarily Vata and Pitta. In your case, the dryness associated with Vata and the inflammation associated with Pitta are likely contributing to your symptoms. To address your condition, consider integrating both dietary and external treatments.
First, for dietary changes, emphasize foods that calm Vata and Pitta. Include more warm, moist, and cooked foods like stews and soups. Avoid cold, dry, and overly spicy foods which can aggravate Vata and Pitta. You might benefit from increasing your intake of healthy fats like ghee and olive oil, which can nourish your scalp from the inside.
Externally, you can prepare a herbal oil for scalp application. Mix a base of coconut oil with a few drops of neem oil and a pinch of turmeric. Warm it slightly before applying to your scalp, massaging gently. Leave it on for at least 30 minutes before washing it out with a mild, herbal shampoo. Do this 2-3 times a week.
Additionally, consider using a natural rinse made from neem leaves. Boil a handful of neem leaves in water, let it cool, and use this water as a final rinse after washing your hair. Neem has antimicrobial properties that can help reduce dandruff.
Since hair thinning is linked to stress and scalp health, practice regular stress management techniques like yoga and pranayama. They can help to balance overall dosha imbalances in your body. Finally, if symptoms persist or worsen, consult a healthcare professional to rule out any underlying conditions.
