Considering the condition, it appears that your body might be experiencing an imbalance in the dosha, possibly Vata-Pitta related. Excessive washing, particularly with shampoos containing harsh chemicals, can exacerbate the issue by stripping the scalp of its natural oils, leading to dryness and more dandruff. Here are some Ayurvedic suggestions to help manage and reduce dandruff and hair fall:
For dandruff and scalp health, try using a herbal blend like neem or tea tree oil. Create a mixture of a few drops of neem oil with coconut oil, which acts as a carrier. Before bed, gently massage this blend onto your scalp, focusing on the inflamed or flaky areas noted around your inner pinna. Leave it overnight and rinse with a mild shampoo the next morning. Do this twice a week, using a sulfate-free shampoo for rinsing to preserve scalp moisture.
Addressing hairfall, consider direct scalp massages with oils rich in nutrients. Bhringraj oil, known for its tendency to enhance hair texture and reduce hairfall, can be beneficial. Warm the oil before applying, gently massage for about 5-10 minutes, and let it penetrate the scalp for at least an hour or two—preferably overnight—before shampooing.
Internally, incorporating herbs like triphala can aid in balancing your digestive fire (Agni) and cleansing the body of toxins, which could be contributing factor. Take triphala churna dissolved in warm water, once before bedtime, to help regulate your body’s systems over time.
Your diet should be inclusive of cooling and hydrating foods to balance Pitta-Vata doshas. Consume more cucumber, leafy greens, sweet juicy fruits, and avoid spicy or fried items which can aggravate the situation.
Hydration remains crucial, so drink plenty of water throughout. Avoid showering with very hot water, as it could further dry the scalp; lukewarm water is ideal.
Keep stress low with meditative practices such as yoga or deep-breathing exercises. Validate the pace of healing, recognizing that it takes time, but these adjustments target the root cause according to Ayurvedic wisdom.
Addressing hairfall and dandruff involves understanding your dosha imbalances, primarily involving Vata and Pitta here. Excessive scalp dryness and oiliness often indicate imbalance, which needs to be corrected. First, start by using a mild herbal shampoo, ideally containing fenugreek or reetha, no more than twice a week. This helps control dandruff without drying out the scalp excessively.
When oiling, avoid heavy oils that may aggravate your scalp condition. Opt for a light herbal oil, like bringaraj or coconut oil infused with neem leaves. Warm the oil slightly and apply gently, using minimal pressure while massaging your scalp. Do this oiling routine once or twice a week, leaving the oil on for no more than 30 minutes before washing it out.
Additionally, you can incorporate a hair mask made from a paste of fresh aloe vera gel and hibiscus leaves. This paste can be applied once a week to soothe the scalp and reduce dandruff. Regarding diet, ensure you include hydrating, non-inflammatory foods. Consume foods like green leafy vegetables, aloe juice, and fruits like papaya, which helps balance Pitta. Minimize excessive spicy, fried, and salty foods which can exacerbate scalp conditions.
If your condition does not improve or worsens, it’s crucial to consult with a healthcare professional for timely intervention. Balancing your doshas with these practices should provide relief, but ensure you monitor any changes in symptoms closely.
