Allergies can really be a puzzle, aren’t they? Your body is basically putting up a fight when it comes into contact with something it doesn’t agree with. In Ayurveda, we believe this could be linked to an imbalance in your doshas or even weak agni (your digestive fire) which struggles to process certain substances. That could lead to accumulation of ama (toxins), triggering the allergy.
Sounds like your symptoms might be related to your pitta dosha being ezcited. When you consume sea food and red meat, which are pitta-increasing foods, your system just might get too heated up. The same goes for dust and intense movements like dancing, which can also spike pitta or even vata in your system, leading to itchy bubbles and feeling dizzy.
So what do you actually do about it? First, observing your food and activities to see any patterns can be helpful, sounds basic but sure works! Try to avoid pitta-provoking foods, like red meat and overly spicy or acidic dishes. Opt for cooling foods like cucumber, coriander and coconut water. They can soothe your system.
Your skin, being a reflection of internal balance, needs care too. A cool herbal paste using sandalwood and rosewater can calm down any irritation—mix into a paste and apply it to affected areas for around 15-20 minutes, daily if needed. Warm baths with neem leaves or calamine can soothe the skin too.
Breathing exercises or pranayama like sheetali (cooling breath) can help manage pitta. Do it in a quiet place where you can relax for a few minutes daily.
If these allergies are quite intrusive or worsen, best to check in with an ayurvedic practitioner or doctor. They can offer a more personalized treatment plan according to your prakriti and specific symptoms. Remember, balancing your diet, managing stress, and understanding your body’s signals are key to keeping allergies at bay. Feel free to reach out if more questions pop up!
