Pigmentation and greying of hair can be quite bothersome, these concerns are related to imbalances in your body’s doshas. In Ayurveda, pigmentation is often linked with an excess of Pitta dosha, while premature greying might be associated with Vata imbalance. Let’s explore what you can do:

For facial pigmentation, start with a balanced diet. Try to include foods that are cooling in nature to pacify excess Pitta. This means incorporating more sweet, bitter, and astringent-tasting foods. Favor fruits like pomegranate and berries — they are not only delicious but also beneficial for the skin. Drinking at least two cups of fresh coconut water daily can also help reduce pigmentation by cooling the body.

You can also make a paste using sandalwood and rose water. Apply it to the affected areas and leave it for 15 minutes before rinsing off. This helps balance Pitta and gradually lightens pigmentation over time.

For the laser treatment scars, consider applying a gentle mix of rosehip oil and rosewater nightly. This may help improve the texture of the skin. If you can, get Triphala powder, boil it in water and use this as a face wash few times a week. It works wonders in detoxifying skin.

As for greying hair, it’s important to nourish your body with foods that support melanin production. Black sesame seeds are known in Ayurveda for their ability to darken the hair and you can sprinkle a teaspoon over your meals. Amla, or Indian gooseberry, is a potent rejuvenator: Consuming it in the form of fresh juice or as an ingredient in hair oils can help control greying. Consider brahmi oil for regular scalp massage — it cools the head and strengthens hair.

Lastly, avoid excessive stress, late nights, and try to maintain a schedule that promotes calm and regularity. All these together, when part of a consistent lifestyle, can gradually help in the management of your concerns.

Facial pigmentation and premature greying both can be connected to underlying imbalances in your doshas, particularly Pitta dosha, which may be resulting from lifestyle or dietary habits. In Siddha-Ayurveda, addressing these issues involves looking at the root causes and making some lifestyle changes.

To start with pigmentation, I recommend using a paste made from sandalwood powder and turmeric mixed with a bit of fresh aloe vera gel. Apply this to the affected areas of your face daily. It can help to balance Pitta and has a soothing and cooling effect. Eating a diet high in fruits and vegetables, especially ones like pomegranate and leafy greens, can also be beneficial as they have natural antioxidants. Monitor your sleep, as irregular patterns can exacerbate these issues.

For grey hair, a blend of amla (Indian gooseberry) and sesame oil can be applied to the scalp. Amla is known in Ayurveda to richen hair pigmentation and balance the aggravated Pitta, while sesame oil is nourishing. Incorporate amla into your diet too, either fresh if accessible or in powder form. Additionally, avoid excess consumption of spicy, sour, and salty foods, as these can elevate Pitta further.

Practicing regular yoga and breathing exercises (like pranayama) can greatly help in reducing stress, which might be contributing to the early graying. Stay consistent with these practices for visible results over time. If these pigmentation or greying concerns continue or worsen, visiting a Siddha-Ayurvedic practitioner may provide a more personalized treatment approach.
