how to use amla for hair - #41593

Kennedy

I am dealing with major hair issues lately. I've always had thick hair, but in this last year, it seems like it’s been falling out a lot more than normal and feels super limp. My friend suggested I should look into using amla for hair, but I have no clue how to use amla for hair, where to start, or even if it’ll help. I remember my grandma used to talk about amla a lot, saying it’s packed with vitamin C and all this other goodness. But I got this big question – should I be using fresh amla, or can I just get the powdered stuff that's easy to mix? I've heard ppl say you can make a paste with it, or even use amla oil, but I honestly don’t know what’s best, you know? 😂 I tried a store-bought hair oil with amla and didn’t really notice much difference. Do I need to use it more frequently, or maybe combine it with other things like coconut oil? Do I just massage it in and wash it out after some time? Also, how long before I’d see any improvements? I am worried because I don’t want to make it worse. Any clear steps or tips on how to use amla for hair effectively would be super helpful! Thanks so much!

Amla, also known as Indian gooseberry, is indeed a valuable remedy in Ayurveda for promoting hair health due to its high vitamin C content and other beneficial nutrients. When considering how to use amla for hair, both fresh amla and powdered amla are effective, but it depends on availability and convenience. If you have access to fresh amla, you can blend it into a paste; however, powdered amla is a great, easy alternative and widely used.

To start, you might want to try an amla hair mask. Mix amla powder with a bit of water to form a smooth paste, you can add some yogurt too if you like, and apply it directly to your hair and scalp. Leave it on for about 30 to 45 minutes before rinsing it out with lukewarm water. This mask can be used once a week for best results.

Amla oil, on the other hand, is also incredibly nourishing. You mentioned trying a store-bought oil, but if you noticed no difference, consider making your own blend at home. You can infuse dried amla in coconut oil or sesame oil by warming them on a low flame, cooling, and storing it for regular use. Massage the oil into your hair and scalp, ideally an hour or two before your hair wash or even overnight for deeper conditioning.

To see improvements in hair health, consistency is key. Use your chosen amla treatment two to three times a week, and it might take a few weeks to notice visible changes. It’s also wise to be mindful of your diet and hydration, as they’re important for hair health as well. Incorporate foods rich in vitamin C, proteins, and healthy fats.

If hair fall persists or worsens despite these efforts, it may be helpful to explore other factors like stress, nutritional deficiencies, or hormonal imbalances. Consulting with a healthcare professional can provide a more comprehensive evaluation. Remember Ayurveda’s holistic approach emphasizes balance, so maintaining a healthy lifestyle alongside these treatments can maximize benefits.
