does multani mitti remove facial hair - #44632

Allison

I am really struggling with some unwanted facial hair, and I keep hearing people talking about multani mitti. Like, does multani mitti remove facial hair? I’ve tried a bunch of things, but nothing seems to help. The other day, I was at a friend’s place and they suggested using a mask with multani mitti ‘cause it can help lighten the hair too? I don’t know how true that is. I mean, I’ve used it as a face pack before, felt refreshing and all, but I never paid attention if it did anything for the hair really. I recently started noticing a thicker shadow on my upper lip and that’s super embarrassing!!! I’m avoiding all the parties and even decided to skip a date which sucks. I read somewhere that multani mitti can be beneficial for the skin, but does it actually get rid of hair or make it finer in the long run? What if I use it regularly? Like, could I mix it with something else for better results or will that totally mess things up? I just really need some advice, maybe some personal experiences or tips on how to use multani mitti effectively to deal with my facial hair issue. Any help would be super appreciated!

Multani mitti, or Fuller’s Earth, while celebrated in Ayurveda for its skin-cleansing and cooling properties, doesn’t inherently remove facial hair. Its primary benefits lie in absorbing oil, dirt, and impurities from the skin, leading to a fresher, brighter complexion. It can indeed be part of a skincare routine, but it won’t actually eliminate facial hair or make them finer long term.

The idea that multani mitti can lighten or remove hair could stem from its exfoliating ability, possibly making facial hair appear less noticeable immediately after usage. But this effect is temporary and superficial. You may consider combining multani mitti with other ingredients like chickpea flour (besan) and turmeric. A mixture of these can potentially weaken the hair slightly, but again, not a guaranteed or significant change. Mix 1 tablespoon of multani mitti with 1 tablespoon of besan and a pinch of turmeric with water or rose water to form a paste. Apply it on the face and let it sit till semi-dry (about 20 minutes). Then gently rub it off in a circular motion and rinse with lukewarm water.

From an Ayurvedic perspective, facial hair growth can also be associated with hormonal imbalances and aggravated Pitta dosha. It’s wise to focus on balancing Pitta with cooling foods, maintaining a stress-free lifestyle, and ensuring proper circulation and detoxification. Consider having more cooling foods like cucumber, cilantro, and mint. Also, stay hydrated and manage stress through activities like yoga or meditation.

If the facial hair is persistent and causing emotional distress, consider consulting an Ayurvedic practitioner for a personalized approach. They might recommend herbal supplements or treatments like Shirodhara, which soothes the nervous system or other tailored interventions. If the hair is particularly concerning or unusual, it may be worth discussing possible underlying issues, like hormonal imbalances, with a healthcare professional.
