Rheumatoid arthritis often results from an imbalance of Vata and Pitta doshas, leading to inflammation and discomfort in the joints. Addressing these imbalances while supporting your digestive fire and ensuring adequate rest is important.

First, consider your diet. To pacify Vata and Pitta, focus on warm, cooked meals. Incorporate spices like turmeric and ginger in your food; they are naturally anti-inflammatory. Avoid processed foods, caffeine, and cold beverages, which can aggravate your condition. Start your day with a glass of warm water with lemon, this helps stimulate agni.

Constipation, often a sign of low digestive fire, can be alleviated by increasing fiber intake. Include plenty of green vegetables and easily digestible grains like rice or quinoa. Triphala, an ayurvedic formulation, taken in the evening with warm water, can aid digestion and regularity, promoting sound sleep as well.

Lifestyle modifications are key. Regular gentle exercises, like yoga and pranayama, help manage stress and improve joint flexibility. Specific yoga poses like ‘Tadasana’ and ‘Bhujangasana’ support joint health. Consistency is vital, so try to practice at the same time each day. Meditation, before bedtime, may help to promote deeper, restful sleep.

For inflammation and pain, applying warm sesame or Brahmi oil to affected areas can provide relief. A simple ayurvedic preparation like Ashwagandha, taken as per practitioner’s guidance, might support overall energy levels and reduce pain.

If symptoms persist or worsen, I recommend consulting with an Ayurvedic practitioner for personalized guidance. Indications of severe pain or rapid inflammation might need more focused treatment, and coordination with you’re primary healthcare provider is important.
