Doctors' responses
Bilirubin level of 4.2 mg/dL suggest that liver function needs attention. Tackle swelling and bloating with an integrative Ayurvedic approach, but it’s critical to also consult a healthcare professional for comprehensive evaluation, especially if symptoms persist or worsen.
First, continue with bhumi amla; it’s useful for liver health. Take 5-10 ml of fresh juice daily or as per guidance from an Ayurvedic practitioner. You can also prepare a decoction by boiling dried bhumi amla with water, drinking 30-50 ml twice a day on an empty stomach.
Swelling in the legs and ankles can be linked to water retention. Consider trikatu churna, which enhances digestion and reduces bloating. Mix 1/4 teaspoon with honey and consume before meals. Also, punarnava is renowned for reducing edema; take 250-500 mg of punarnava churna after meals with warm water, twice a day.
Incorporate warm, light, and easily digestible foods to balance vata and kapha doshas. Use spices like ginger, black pepper and cumin to boost agni — your digestive fire. Avoid oily, salty, and heavy foods that may aggravate your condition. Include more bitter and astringent tastes in your meals, such as green vegetables and legumes.
Hydration is important; drink ample warm water, maybe infused with a pinch of turmeric. However, avoid cold or excessively icy beverages, especially with meals, as they can hinder digestive efficacy.
Practice yoga postures like legs-up-the-wall pose (Viparita Karani) which improves circulation and reduces swelling. Breathing exercises, like pranayama, can aid in reducing stress and improving overall metabolic function.
To conclude, though Ayurveda offers significant support, closely monitor your symptoms and don’t hesitate to seek medical attention if you notice signs like dark urine, yellowing eyes or increased disorientation. Your health, especially liver-related, deserves comprehensive care.
