When addressing premature greying of hair, it’s important to consider your constitution or prakriti, and any possible imbalances in your doshas. In Ayurveda, hair is influenced by the state of Pitta dosha, and an imbalance may lead to early greying. You’re noticing some hairs turning black again from the roots, a good sign indicating some reversal is possible.

Firstly, nourish your hair tissues (dhatus) by following a balanced diet rich in Amla (Indian Gooseberry), known for its rejuvenating properties. Consume fresh Amla juice daily or take it in powder form with warm water to strengthen hair follicles and promote pigmentation. Additionally, sesame seeds, particularly black sesame, can be beneficial. Consider consuming a tablespoon of black sesame seeds daily.

Avoid heating foods and beverages that can aggravate Pitta, like spicy or fried foods, excessive amounts of red meat, and caffeine. Incorporate cooling and hydrating options like fresh vegetables, fruits, and plenty of water. Practicing Brahmi or Bhringraj oil head massage once or twice a week can help nourish the scalp—apply the oil slightly warmed, gently massaging into the scalp before bed, and washing it out in the morning.

Stress contributes significantly to Pitta imbalances, practice yoga and pranayama regularly to manage stress levels. Techniques such as sheetali or sheetkari pranayama can be particularly cooling and calming. Lastly, vitamin B12 and D deficiencies may also play a role in premature greying, consider these levels through a healthcare provider and address any deficiencies under medical advice.

Keep in mind that while genuine reversal is possible for some, it may not be for everyone. Continue observing changes and consult with a trained Ayurvedic practitioner to tailor a plan specific for your individual condition, ensuring safety and effectiveness suited to your unique needs.
