Hello, I understand your worry — seeing creatinine go up and GFR drop, even slightly, can be stressful. Please stay calm; based on what you’ve shared, this does not suggest kidney damage at this stage.

You have taken the Ayurvedic medicine for less than a week

A 1% drop in GFR is clinically insignificant and can happen due to: 1.Dehydration 2.Lab variation 3.Recent diet (high protein / salty food) 4.Timing of blood test

True medicine-related kidney injury does NOT happen within a few days without symptoms

Since you have no other symptoms, this is reassuring.

What to do now (Simple & Safe Plan) 1. Stop all Ayurvedic medicines temporarily – Pause for 7–10 days – This is to relieve your anxiety and allow reassessment 2. Hydration

Drink 2–2.5 liters of water daily (unless fluid-restricted)

Avoid dehydration completely 3. Avoid kidney stressors No painkillers (NSAIDs) Avoid high-protein supplements Avoid alcohol 4. Repeat tests Repeat Creatinine & eGFR after 7–10 days Prefer same lab, morning sample

When to worry (Seek care immediately if any appear) 1.Reduced urine output 2.Swelling of feet or face 3.Severe fatigue, nausea, vomiting

(You currently have none, which is good.)

For now: pause, hydrate, recheck. Most likely, your values will normalize on repeat testing.

If you want, you can share: * Your creatinine value * Any existing kidney condition

I’ll guide you safely.

With warm regards Dr.Sumi MS (Ayu)

1.Gokshuradi guggulu 2 tab twice daily with water after meals 2.Chandraprabha vati 2 tab twice daily with water after meals 3.Varunadi Kwath 20 ml with 20 ml water twice daily after meals 4.Punarnavarishta 15 ml with 15 ml water twice daily after meals

🌸 Supportive Daily Routine - Diet: Light, easily digestible foods; avoid excess salt, fried/oily items, and packaged foods. - Hydration: Sip warm water through the day, but follow fluid restriction if advised by your nephrologist. - Yoga/Pranayama: Gentle breathing practices (Anulom Vilom, Bhramari) to calm stress. Avoid strain. - Lifestyle: Early sleep, avoid alcohol, and reduce high-protein load if medically advised.

Hello I can understand your concern regarding increased creatine and decresed egfr

The medication as mentioned by you from karma ayurveda like neph, supra medications

As you are already on stage 5 i will advise you to follow this prescription

Just follow this prescription for next 10 days

See It is already stage 5 My main goal of. Treatment is to not to worsen the kidney parameter

After 10 days – the creatine and egfr should remain constant

After 20 days Gradually it should increase slowely

Patience is important

Prescription 1. Chandraprabha vati 1-0-1 after food 2. Veerataradi kashyam 15ml-0-15ml + equal water after food 3. Sarvotobadra vati 1-0-1 after food 4. Neeri KFT 15ML-0-15ML after food

Plsease follow. Up with reports on 11 th day

Warm Regards Dr Snehal Vidhate

Don’t panic – a 1-week change in creatinine/GFR with only 1 week of Ayurvedic medicine is very common and usually NOT caused by the medicine. At this short duration, lab fluctuations happen due to: Dehydration (even mild), Diet changes (high protein, salt, less water), Lab variation (±0.1–0.3 normal)

Ayurvedic kidney medicines (like Punarnava, Gokshura) take minimum 4–8 weeks to show stable improvement – 1 week is too early to judge.

What to do right now is - Repeat blood test after 2–3 weeks (same lab, same time, well-hydrated) – single reading means nothing.

Continue medicines if prescribed by qualified Vaidya – stopping abruptly can harm more.

Daily must Drink 2.5–3 L water (sip, not gulp) Reduce salt <4 gm/day Eat light: moong khichdi + ghee, pomegranate, coconut water Avoid outside food, tea/coffee excess

Common safe Ayurvedic combo for kidney support (if your doctor allows) Punarnavadi Mandoor 250 mg twice daily Gokshuradi Guggulu 2 tab twice daily Chandraprabha Vati 2 tab twice daily

See doctor immediately if Swelling in legs/face, Very low urine, Severe fatigue 99 % chance your next report will be stable or better if you stay hydrated & consistent. 1 week is too short – give it time. You will be fine – stay calm!

The doctor said i could go from 11 gfr to 16gfr in a month. Is that possible? And in 2 months i will be at 20 gfr. Is that a good estimate for ayurveda treatment?

Hello?

THANK YOU FOR CONTAINING ASK AYURVEDA I CAN UNDERSTAND HOW SEEING A CHANGE IN CREATININE AND EGFR CAN CAUSE ANXIETY, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU HAVE RECENTLY STARTED ALAYURVEDIC MEDICINE AND HAVE NOT YET FELT ANY BENEFIT.

PLEASE BE REASSURED THAT A VERY SMALL RISE IN CREATININE AND A 1 PERCENT DROP IN EGFR WITHIN LESS THAN ONE WEEK IS USUALLY NOT CONSIDERED A TRUE DECLINE IN KIDNEY FUNCTION. KIDNEY VALUES CAN FLUCTUATE SLIGHTLY FROM TEST TO TEST DUE TO MANY FACTORS SUCH AS HYDRATION LEVELS, HOW MUCH WATER YOU DRANK THE PREVIOUS DAY, PROTEIN OR SALT INTAKE, STRESS, POOR SLEEP, OR EVEN NORMAL LAB VARIATION. SUCH A MINOR CHANGE BY ITSELF DOES NOT MEAN DAMAGE HAS OCCURRED.

FROM BOTH AN AYURVEDIC AND MEDICAL POINT OF VIEW, IT IS VERY UNLIKELY THAT A PROPERLY PRESCRIBED AYURVEDIC MEDICINE WOULD CAUSE KIDNEY HARM IN LESS THAN A WEEK, UNLESS IT CONTAINS UNSUITABLE INGREDIENTS, IF TAKEN IN EXCESS DOSE, OR THERE IS ALREADY ADVANCED KIDNEY DISEASE. MOST AYURVEDIC MEDICINES ACT SLOWLY AND GRADUALLY AND DO NOT CAUSE SUDDEN ORGAN CHANGES.

MOST COMMON REASONS FOR A TEMPORARY CREATININE RISE INCLUDE MILD DEHYDRATION, SLIGHTLY HIGHER PROTEIN CONSUMPTION, RECENT INFLAMMATION OR INFECTION, USE OF PAINKILLERS, OR SIMPLY DAY TO DAY BIOLOGICAL VARIATION. A 1 PERCENT CHANGE IN EGFR IS OFTEN WITHIN NORMAL LIMITS.

THERE IS NO NEED TO PANIC. MAKE SURE YOU ARE DRINKING ADEQUATE WATER THROUGH THE DAY UNLESS YOUR DOCTOR HAS RESTRICTED FLUIDS. AVOID PAINKILLERS AND UNNECESSARY SUPPLEMENTS. IF THE AYURVEDIC MEDICINE IS FROM A RELIABLE SOURCE AND TAKEN IN A SAFE DOSE, IT CAN BE CONTINUED FOR NOW. THE MOST SENSIBLE STEP IS TO REPEAT THE KIDNEY FUNCTION TEST AFTER ABOUT 10 TO 14 DAYS, PREFERABLY FROM THE SAME LAB.

IF FUTURE REPORTS SHOW A CONSISTENT RISE IN CREATININE OR A STEADY FALL IN EGFR, THEN THE MEDICINE SHOULD BE REVIEWED OR STOPPED AND FURTHER EVALUATION IS TEQUIRED BUT BASED ON ONE MINOR CHANGE WITHOUT ANY SYMPTOMS, THERE IS CURRENTLY NO STRONG EVIDENCE OF KIDNEY DAMAGE.

YOUR LACK OF SYMPTOMS SUCH AS SWELLING, REDUCED URINE OUTPUT, BURNING URINATION, OR EXTREME FATIGUE IS ALSO A POSITIVE SIGN. STRESS AND WORRY THEMSELVES CAN AFFECT HYDRATION, BLOOD PRESSURE AND OVERALL WELLBEING, SO PLEASE TRY NOT TO ASSUME THE WORST AT THIS STAGE.

SHARE THE NAMES OF THE AYURVEDIC MEDICINES YOU ARE TAKING, ALONG WITH YOUR PREVIOUS BASELINE CREATININE AND EGFR. I CAN THEN GUIDE YOU MORE PRECISELY AND SAFELY.

THE FORMULATION YOU SHARED IS VERY STRONG AND COMPLEX. IT CONTAINS MANY USHNA, TIKSHNA, DEEPANA AND SHODHANA HERBS SUCH AS CHITRAK, CHAVYA, PIPPALI, MARICHA, SHUNTHI, PIPPALIMOOL, TRIVRIT AND KUTKI, ALONG WITH GUGGULU AND MANDOOR BHASMA. THESE MEDICINES ARE OFTEN USED TO BREAK AMA, REDUCE BLOCKAGE AND MOBILIZE TOXINS. IN A PERSON WHO ALREADY HAS HIGH CREATININE, THIS KIND OF STRONG STIMULATION CAN TEMPORARILY PUSH THE VALUES UP.

THIS KIND OF INCREASE DOES NOT ALWAYS MEAN THE KIDNEYS ARE GETTING DAMAGED. IT IS DUE TO FLUID SHIFT, MILD DEHYDRATION, INCREASED METABOLIC LOAD, EVEN SMALL CHANGES IN WATER INTAKE, SALT, PROTEIN, SLEEP, STRESS OR DIGESTION CAN AFFECT CREATININE WHEN KIDNEYS ARE WEAK.

A 1 PERCENT DROP IN GFR IS VERY SMALL AND CAN FLUCTUATE DAILY. GFR IS A CALCULATED VALUE, NOT A DIRECT MEASUREMENT, SO WHEN CREATININE CHANGES, GFR AUTOMATICALLY APPEARS TO DROP.

WHEN CREATININE IS ALREADY ABOVE 5, WE MUST BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL WITH STRONG, HEATING, CLEANSING FORMULATIONS AND WITH MINERAL PREPARATIONS. THIS DOES NOT MEAN AYURVEDA IS WRONG OR HARMFUL. IT MEANS THE APPROACH NEEDS TO BE MORE SUPPORTIVE AT THIS STAGE.

YOU SHOULD INFORM YOUR PRESCRIBED TO DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY ABOUT THIS INCREASE. THE DOSE WILL BE REDUCED, THE TIKSHNA DRUGS TO BE STOPPED , OR THE TREATMENT IS SHIFTED TO MORE , KIDNEY FRIENDLY MEDICINES SUCH AS PUNARNAVA, GOKSHURA, VARUNA, YASHTIMADHU AND GUDUCHI IN SIMPLE COMBINATIONS.

PLEASE ALSO THINK ABOUT THE LAST FEW DAYS. WERE YOU DRINKING LESS WATER? DID YOU HAVE LOOSE MOTIONS, POOR APPETITE OR ANY DEHYDRATION? DID YOUR PROTEIN OR SALT INTAKE CHANGE? EVEN MILD DEHYDRATION CAN CAUSE A NOTICEABLE RISE IN CREATININE AT THIS LEVEL.

DO NOT STOP OR CONTINUE MEDICINES ON YOUR OWN. THIS SITUATION NEEDS CAREFUL ADJUSTMENT AND CLOSE MONITORING, DO NOT FEAR. ONE READING AF ER ONE WEEK IS NOT ENOUGH TO JUDGE FAILURE OR HARM.

IT IS GOOD THAT YOU ARE MONITORING YOUR REPORTS. WITH PROPER MODIFICATION AND , MANY TIMES THESE VALUES WILL GET STABILIZED IF YOU WANT, YOU CAN SHARE WHETHER YOU ARE ON DIALYSIS, YOUR CKD STAGE, AND ANY OTHER MEDICINES YOU ARE TAKING, SO I CAN GUIDE YOU MORE PRECISELY.
