–You can add dried lavender to your shampoo for a gentle scent—it’s usually safe and mild. The fragrance won’t be very strong, and it’s less likely to irritate your scalp than lavender essential oil. Essential oil gives a stronger scent and may help the scalp, but it can cause irritation if you’ve never used it before. I’d recommend starting with dried lavender, and see how your scalp reacts.
